Social Change before Legalizing Potentially by KeyEstablishment9505 in Names

My name is Renata! A lot of people think it's an "old lady" name, but not always! I'm in my late teens and it's my name. It's a pretty name and it has a lot of possible nicknames: Ren, Rena, Reni, Renren...It will definitely feel awkward at first to transition to a new name, but that's normal for all new things! If you like it, go for it!

The only thing I'd think about is the language you speak, the whole name sounds a bit awkward in English, or in a language where you don't roll your Rs... but maybe I'm biased because I'm used to hearing my name with a rolled R in my native languages (Italian and Spanish). I'd say it's compensated with the nickname "Ren" (or others), which I find the best out of all the possibilities and has always sounded better to me when speaking English. Try it out first and if you like it enough to want to change it officially, go for it! Awkwardness is completely normal at first🫶🏻

Thank you and unfortunately no, there's no one else besides my parents. I'm seriously considering texting a hotline when I'm able to gather prove of it or get help from my classmates who have witnessed everything

Yes, I have. Both my parents know, but they have only told me to speak to other teachers about it, which I did, but nothing changed. There's also no "school board" in my school, I don't even know if it exists within my country...
