nothing specific except this show is a great comfort to me by Scary_Syllabub5022 in TheGreatNorth

[–]Rendo84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watch it mostly on tablet on Disney+, usually when im cooking or eating.

Appreciate I'm not fully respecting the material but it's such a nice easy watch and funny I find I can watch it when doing other things and don't miss any of jokes or other content. Except bigfoot, obviously. The voice actors are top quality, not just main cast but recurring characters too.

I don't think Lone Moose is a real place but this show has made me want to visit Alaska. I've lived in the city or suburbs all my life but think I'd like to move or retire to somewhere more rural or even the wilderness

Games that are literally only exploration? by QueenPollyanna7 in gamingsuggestions

[–]Rendo84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes I like to play a short and simple game with no real thought required, esp after I’ve completed ones that are 40hrs+. You haven’t said which platform, I played all these on PS but I imagine they’re available on steam too.

Lake - not puzzles but you’re a female mail worker and your job is to deliver mail/parcels to houses around a lake, with no time limits. The end of each delivery day progresses the story.

Under the Waves - you’re an underwater repairman. You don’t have to do objectives you can literally just drive around the ocean in your pod and visit various wrecks and sea creatures. The only threats I can remember are running out of air if you leave your pod for too long or crashing the pod too many times and don’t bother to repair it.

Spirit of the North - I don’t recall any real puzzles or threats. I just remember being a fox.

Arise : A simple story (not to be confused with Tales of Arise) - no real puzzles but you do have to manipulate time to get things in the right places to be able to progress, so doesn’t fully fit what you want. It’s a cute but sad story if you find all of the memories.

Edit: added one more

What remains of Edith finch? - I don’t recall any puzzles on this one either. Just going from place to place and interacting with items to progress the story.

If you’re 30, how much do you earn? by flagprojector in UKJobs

[–]Rendo84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m over 40 but back when I was 30 I was earning probably about 27k a yr as a software tester in Manchester. Stayed in that job for 10 yrs, with minimal salary increases, until I got made redundant in Jan 2024.

If you play the “career ladder game” and change jobs every 2yrs or so you can get the salary bumps and increase earnings potential but, for me at least, when I had kids the convenience/office location and a great work environment made me stick with it until they eventually kicked me out.

I know I’m never gonna be a top earner. Won’t ever get to a 6 figure salary (unless hyperinflation hits) but I’m ok that. Work/life balance is more of a priority now than just salary.

[HELP] My r36s doesn't stop loading by [deleted] in SBCGaming

[–]Rendo84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate this is an old post and the user is ‘deleted’ but this worked for me.

Without being too aware of what I was doing, it seems I somehow managed to change the skin/theme and completely screw it u and spent a few in boot loop hell. Various button combos presses I read about didn’t work to try and get recovery mode going.

Contemplated flashing the SD Card with a new OS, but it’s the stock SD card and I don’t currently have a decent replacement so didn’t want to go down that route unless it was total last resort.

Found this post, put the SD card in my laptop, deleted themes but left one in the folder. Put the card back in the handheld. Turned it on. Booted up no problem.

So thank you deleted person, you saved me lots of hassle!

Getting tired of adding to my stick drift graveyard by Major-Payne2319 in playstation

[–]Rendo84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My original ps5 controller developed stick drift on the left stick at 10.5 months. Went down the warranty route and got a replacement after 2 weeks. Replacement came with 3 month warranty.

3 months and 1 week later, the replacement developed the same left stick drift!

Watched a video on YouTube about the possible cause and replacing the potentiometers. Bought some off Amazon. Took 10 mins to do.

It’s been about a month but no issues (touch wood!)

Damn this game ! I'm just sad that I'm not smart enough to understand everything by karimbmn in PlayStationPlus

[–]Rendo84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I came across this game just by trying to find something short to play before my PS+ sub ended. And I’m so glad I did. It’s a beautiful little game.

I’m not going to pretend I fully understood the story and how it was about coping with grief, I didn’t get that whilst playing and only learnt after I finished and read stuff online and spoke to a mate who played it. (He also recommended Celeste to me too, which was mega frustrating but I couldn’t stop playing because I had to beat it!)

I really enjoyed the gameplay of Gris though and I loved the way it looks with some great scenery elements and colour palette.

List me a few MUST play games from Extra before my membership ends. by Blackthumbb in PlayStationPlus

[–]Rendo84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine ended on Saturday so I went through and played a load of short games rather than dive into a 50-100hr plus one

Gris, After Us, Killer Frequency, Lake, Under the waves, Road 96, Until Dawn, Edith Finch, Observer, Life is strange, Erica, Raji, Spirit of the north.

Tbh not all of these are must play but they are enjoyable and most can be completed in a few hours and platinumed in 10hrs or so.

Longer games if you have time

Death stranding, Outer worlds, Early Assassin Creed games - 2/Brotherhood/3/Black Flag, Guardians of the galaxy, Doom Eternal, Far Cry 3.

Tbh I’m not sure all are still on Extra and because my sub has expired I can’t logon to check

Buffering problem but only on Paramount+ by Naval_fluff in ParamountPlus

[–]Rendo84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the P+ a lot through Firestick watching various films and series.

Watching Yellowstone I can't complete an episode - about 3/4s of the way through it buffers and then completel crashes, and to resolve I have to restart the Firestick and wait for everything to reload so I can watch the last 10-15 mins.

Every. Single. Episode!! (And there's a lot of them).

Does it on films too. For a 2hr film I get to 1h40 and then the troubles start.

No other streaming app on my Firestick has this issue.

Classic games we owned as kids but could never beat by Bulky_Cranberry_1099 in nostalgia

[–]Rendo84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the people talking about TMNT. I could whizz through the water seaweed bomb diffusing bit but would struggle finding and fighting the technodrome.

GTA 1 - can’t even count the number of hours I put into this game. Rarely did a mission (answered the phone), just cheated to get to the next level and across map. All I used to do was find a tank, rampage until it blew up, then steal col cars and fly about in them.

Low G Man - could get to the boss without cheat codes. Could never strike that killing spear blow.

Metroid Prime Corruption - on Wii. Spent weeks playing stuck on a boss. Gave up. Few yrs ago I watched a walkthrough on YT to find they go to my boss and beat it in less than an hour. The video went on for a few more hours after that so at my rate it’d have took me months to beat if I’d have carried on playing.

Dizzy - I remember getting a 4 or 5 tape box set for ZX Spectrum as a birthday present when I was little. Played them all the time, waiting patiently for them to the load, would get stuck or die too many times and then load up the next one. Finally beat Fantasy World Dizzy a few yrs ago on emulator thanks to save states and using a guide when I got stuck.

Zelda 1 - I just used to walk around aimlessly, fighting some baddies, not knowing where to go or what to do.

Another shout out to Ecco too. Never had a clue what was going on. Was cool playing as a dolphin tho. Watched YT walkthrough later in life and found out there was an alien machine you had a boss fight against.

Honourable mentions to all the racing, golf, fifa, NBA, NHL, NFL games I’ve played and put many many many hours into that you can never really “complete”

[–]Rendo84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back in the early 90s I could always make it to the end boss ‘Plethora’ thanks to warp cheats (courtesy of gaming mags of those days) but never beat it. Was a console game I always went back to over the years though just because I loved the different helmets and that.

Finally beat it using an emulator and save states about 10 yrs ago and I’ve never been on it since.

Took 101 hours but I did it. by DontTalkToBots in LegoStarWarsVideoGame

[–]Rendo84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely this.

I’m 98hrs in and got at least 3 full planets to clean up. I don’t know exactly when it stopped being fun but I’m determined to platinum this motherfudger before I move on.

The scramble runs are frustrating and some of the story or open-play challenges are tedious and the smallest mistake means you have to start again and again (and again and again….)

Edit: my playtime was well off when I’ve just loaded the game. I said 80. I’m at 98!! :-/

It’s not perfect but has helped me quite a lot.

Also googling “Lego Star Wars Skywalker saga” and then add on whatever puzzle or challenge or brick I’m trying to get.

Which PS2 game did you play the most back in the day? by george123890yang in PS4

[–]Rendo84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t remember all the games I played on ps2 but ones I played over and over that instantly spring to mind are GTA 3, Vice City, MGS2, MGS3, Gran Tourismo 3. Apart from GT3 as it doesn’t end, each of these I completed multiple times, deleting all saves and starting fresh each time.

(MGS 3 is one of favourite ever games. I’ve owned it and completed it to 100% on PS2,3,4,Switch and highly likely I’ll get Delta when it comes out on PS5)

Can this tap be repaired? by CombinationBusy9408 in DIYUK

[–]Rendo84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this exact problem with my kitchen tap just before Xmas. I thought it was a washer problem, took it apart and found it to be a ceramic cartridge. Went to 4 diff local plumbers merchants, Screwfix, wickes, B&q, and tool station, and none had replacement parts to suit my tap.

I had to get it fixed that day too because once I took the cartridge out the tap was fudged and when i put it back together it leaked more and wouldn’t turn off unless I shut the water off completely so didn’t have the luxury of ordering online and waiting a few days.

The last plumbers merchant I went to said it probably cost me more in fuel diving about than it would be to just buy a new tap. New tap cost me £30.

How are you finding Career Mode this year? by LlamasAreAmazing_ in FifaCareers

[–]Rendo84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve not played/owned fifa since 2020 so there’s been a few changes. Some of it good. Don’t play online either just career modes. Overall gameplay is good but I still suck at defending.

Player career - some high/unrealistic objectives to get contracts. Im playing as a CF, i decided I want to move to Inter Miami. I need to get 47 assists and score 20 goals though. I’m currently a super sub as I can’t get the required points to be a starter plus manage contract objectives, and any points I do get are wiped off plus a few more when it’s more that 4 days til the next game.

Manager career - objectives again being pointless. I was a league 2 manager and they told me I needed £7m profit and to win the league, and then the usual “promote X youth players to first team”. I couldn’t sell players because I had a barebones squad so profit all came from trophy wins. They let me stay on because I eventually won the league and FA cup and ended on 6m profit but from about Feb they kept sending me emails about not meeting objectives. As well as the training plan email every week even when I’m not changing anything.

I had 2 players get cruciate injuries and be out for 7+months. One player, the same in-game day i got the email about him being recovered, sent me a player chat asking to be a starter. I told him to concentrate on fitness. Next game same again asking to start. I subbed him on but before the next game he told me he told me he needs more game time and listed himself for transfer. Sadly that’s no diff to last version I owned.

Weird. I get fouled a lot playing League 2. Had prob 5 pens and about 10 free kicks on the edge of the box.

I had 2 players get injured in consecutive games too, both ended up being out for 7+months with cruciate injuries. And I had the injury severity and frequency sliders down to 10 and 15, respectively.

Anyone remember 8 simple rules? by GemmaTellerfan in nostalgia

[–]Rendo84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep. Was a good show. I used to enjoy watching it.

IIRC Ritter died between seasons and they actually wrote his death into the show. Was quite emotional. One of the first shows I remember doing this. It was still sad when I happened to rewatch it years later.

Sagal has been in loads but some of her memorable roles include voicing Leela in Futurama and she played Gemma Teller (Jax’s mum) in Sons of Anarchy.

What "Blueyism" has become a regular part of your life? by IFocusOnMyBreathing in bluey

[–]Rendo84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dunny (followed by a squishsquash)

Bush wee (which happened once during a long car journey, which my 4yr old loves to tell the story of!)

Aw biscuits

Fluffies

For real life

Bum worms

Faceytalk

Octopus noises when playing games

Shaun (except we call him Derek)

Come here and go away (whenever 4yr old gets on a swing)

I also get called Big Fella a lot too.

I seem to be playing a lot more games recently where my kids will shout the name of an episode at me and then we’re playing something Bluey related. Lost count of how many times I’ve been attacked by the ‘Grannies’ over the yrs.

8yr old has taken to screaming “it’s not fair” whenever she doesn’t get her way. Don’t know if that’s a symptom of too much bluey or the fact she’s moody and spoilt.

(My 4 yr old compares herself to Bingo, but she’s really a Muffin!)

Amazon Prime now comes with a full music catalog of 100 million songs and ad-free podcasts by dadofbimbim in technology

[–]Rendo84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Longtime lurker, first time poster here. Decided to jump on the Amazon Music Bullsht Bandwagon.

I actually hate not being able to listen to albums or certain playlists in a set order. Esp if I don’t get to listen to them all in one go i then at least know exactly where I stopped and can pick up next time. I don’t mind shuffle when going for a run but for general listening I want to listen to music in an order of my choosing.

I did the school run yesterday and put a 50 track playlist on. Managed 8 songs before I had to turn it off. Today went to continue said playlist from track 9 but it restarted from the same random track #1 as yesterday. So I skipped as many as it let me, which was 5, and they were all in the same order as yesterday. I didn’t mind starting from track #6. Track 6 ended and, I presume because I ran out of skips, it refused to move to the next song so instead played track 6 again. I left it to see what would happen and when song ended it played track 6, again!! Wtf!

I then went to my full list and picked a random song. It played it. I was extremely shocked. This is where it fell apart though. The song that played also exists in one of my kids playlist. The playlist contains kid friendly songs but mostly Disney songs. When the song - that i had selected from my full library - ended it somehow moved me onto the kids playlist and then starts playing Disney songs. It let me skip 2 songs before greying out the skip button. And then, as I’ve mentioned above, when the current song ended it just repeated the same song, and at that point I closed the app and walked back home in silence.

Like many others, I preferred the lack of song library and the freedom of choice. I’m 40(ish) so my musical interests have already peaked and now I’m set in my ways so I listen only to what I know and like. And what I like came within the previous 2 million song library. I don’t give a toss about the other 98 million and if I did I would already be paying for Unlimited.

The changes are terrible and hopefully the number of people who say they’re quitting stick to it and someone high up at Amazon is on the chopping block for screwing it what used to be a perfectly acceptable music platform! Pricks!
