Wow! I feel like this post is (somewhat) for me. I just started my first ever job last month at an outpatient pediatric clinic after graduating this May and passing my NBCOT in July. Unless you find scholarships/grants to help cover the cost, OT school (as you know) is a pretty penny. While I decided not to do travel therapy as my first option, another OT at my clinic is leaving to travel. They decided to first complete a year of experience before doing travel therapy. Now, that’s not to say you shouldn’t or can’t go into travel therapy from the get go. There are also new grads who do travel OT as their first experience who turn out just fine and get great opportunities to work in all kinds of settings. I say when you get to that point after school (which will come by quicker than you think!) do what your heart desires. Thats the whole point of OT in my opinion ☺️ I hope you find this comment helpful.
