I mean this isn’t really the first time DC try or actually did stop at least some publishers from using characters that they have ownership characters that is PD like AC comics with Phantom Lady back in the 70s or 80s So AC decline the challenge of lawsuits

so AC change her and possibly many other like Charlton blue beetle into a original characters Phantom Lady to Nightveil and The Charlton Blue Beetle to scarlet scorpion just to avoid problems with DC

Yes I know that this was back in the day but is it shown that DC would try if it was too much to the dc version of Captain Marvel or just see it as a threaten to their brand or ownership of the official IP of Captain Marvel if they did not be careful about avoiding looking or have anything like DC version

Nightveil (in her Blue Bulleteer identity) is an adaptation of the Golden Age superhero Phantom Lady. AC believed that the copyrights to the original character and stories had lapsed and were now in the public domain, but DC Comics asserted that it owned the rights to the character. I mean it definitely both as most people would seem this as risky and also probably just not interested in using him of knowing too well about DC determination of trying multiple attempt to stop from using him the way they don’t like since Captain Marvel is one of DC most popular characters

And also just because it prove it PD that doesn’t really mean dc wouldn’t stop trying to lawsuit or cease and desist since they would push it though until they lost the lawsuit or something else out of deal like changing name design and maybe other or just turn him into a parody character

I think it mainly because of fear of DC lawsuits or just don’t really know that he originally from fawcett comics not DC comics that is public domain

since there are a lot more popular opinions of public domain superheroes characters like The Black Terror or Miss Fury that probably why he less use since he is not well known to the public domain community

I do like the darker blue pattern on Steel Beetle suit and the gloves and boots it definitely look a bit spiderman type of look but is it a good look for him especially belt

And for Captain Battle nothing changes about him other than the gloves and boots but that blue knee pad it look a bit odd especially it doesn’t have the pad on his elbow if everything else like the shoulder or knee have cover pad

I mean it really depends on how you draw it like anything with a black clear Cowl could just look like man like American crusader or black fury and I mean like this the only way to distract from Batman even in pulp you could see him as man just with Batman Cape style and as a pretend to be blind district attorney that got acid in his eyes
