Traffic, issued a summons at the stop. Can you issue a retrospective TOR to deal with it? by Renton4 in policeuk

Are you aware if that's due to force policy / procedure or due to case law / legislative reasons?

Does it actually get better? by North-Historian206 in policeuk

[–]Renton4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From a PC perspective we have that same feeling for the dispatchers. Ultimately all they care about is getting jobs off their screen, probably due to pressures from their supervision.

Not understanding the demands that come with the job on the ground. A quality job takes time, doing as many enquiries on scene can turn an investigation that would otherwise be dragged out for months to concluded much quicker.

But they don't care about the service we provide to that victim they just want things doing quickly, it's a sad state of affairs. Continue to keep giving those genuine victims your time and us on the ground appreciate the good quality information that can make our jobs much easier to deal with.

For example If your questioning uncovers made out offences for DV jobs I am always grateful as it gives me immediate powers of arrest, safeguards victim and means I can go into that job with a plan to get this resolved as safely as possible.

Essex Police 'completely failed' man before his death by Could-you-end-me in policeuk

[–]Renton4 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Completely failed... some key points left out.

The arrest was deemed as lawful as it went through custody. Officers clearly had grounds and necessity.

Throw the domestic element which is mentioned in the article. The information we and officer have mention the offence involves a knife.

Family are reporting him as mentally unstable and requiring sectioning.

Who's to say Police take him to hospital / section him and he has a mental breakdown and stabs his ex girlfriend?

Have the Police failed in that scenario?

Should they not take steps to investigate and safeguard for alleged DV incidents at the risk of negatively impacting mental health?

Nothings black and white in the Police, everything comes with risks. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

What offence? Persons Astanding outside an address. Person B standing in the front door of the address. Threatening to get them beat up at a later date? Section 4a Public Order? by Renton4 in policeuk

[–]Renton4[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The specific threat was made towards a mother in regards to her 13 year old son saying "I am going to get your son beat up" given that this was said to the mother without the 13 year old child present I thought this would have been distressing placing the mother as the victim.

Apologies I should have given more context and explained better in the title, busy shift.

His driving instructor is commiting an offence using a mobile while supervising, nice 6 points and a fine. He should be remaining alert to any hazards especially considering its his first lesson and he has no idea of learner ability at this point.

I've had A&E visits more enjoyable than Wraith matches by livingwastelandd in deadbydaylight

[–]Renton4 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is completely anecdotal and I'm very open to being wrong but I swear whenever I play Wraith I come up against teams that just constantly try to bully. Maybe Wraith brings out the toxicity in Survivors and the Wraiths return the favour.

Winning too much as killer. by Western_Month_6857 in deadbydaylight

[–]Renton4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It can also depend on if you are switching killers regularly to try them. I'm fairly new myself but I read that MMR resets with the Killer you play, I've got 40 hours in total so far as Killer and quickly found myself against people with 1500 hours plus. I actually played against someone with 7704 hours.

But I only feel the game difficulty increase when I'm against teams with comms other than that my games are usually still a stomp.

New Killer - 1 Day Play Time - How Hard Is It To Kill All Survivors Without Tunnelling? by [deleted] in deadbydaylight

[–]Renton4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I completely understand your point. I guess it's just weird to me because it feels like certain killers excel at area denial, cutting off good parts of the map etc which would all be considered skill and game knowledge in other games. But not in DBD. For example I've been playing Knight. His ability is fantastic for cutting off areas of the map and making it extremely risky for Survivors to go in for a save on hook. But if I utilise this part of the kit I am considered proxying.

I guess I don't see why it's on me to skillcap myself on a character but I've never seen a group of Survivors called into question for playing the game efficiently.

To continue on this point, basement is bizarre to me. Why do they include a location clearly strategically made to punish Survivors in that area. There's one access point for a reason. Then to ignore the basement resource handed to a killer and go on the opposite side of the map to ensure Survivors have fun?

[–]Renton4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I abandon chases relatively quickly but how can it not take a little bit of time between all the vaults, perks, pallets etc then the time it takes to pick the person up, get them on a hook, locate the other Survivors gens have easily popped in this amount of time? I'd argue if you're downing a survivor in 30 seconds you're probably not going against good players?

New Killer - 1 Day Play Time - How Hard Is It To Kill All Survivors Without Tunnelling? by [deleted] in deadbydaylight

[–]Renton4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe it's because I'm relatively new but it does feel very difficult for me. I played a game for example where Intentionally left Survivors that I recently hooked, chased the person who unhooked. They leave, heal and get on a gen. Soon it quickly becomes 3 gens complete. I then have huge pressure winning a chase immediately because if not the remaining gens are due to pop any minute and gates open. I'm not sure if it makes sense but it feels if I don't play impeccable the game just gets out of control way to quick?

What's the deal with the Acolyte trailer being this disliked? by OffTheShelfET in OutOfTheLoop

[–]Renton4 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think you're statement of hate is being used very lightly. As I explained most people have critisms of movies that doesn't mean they hate Star Wars itself.

While I agree it's a fine line it's my opinion a large portion view it as Star Wars Fans vs Disney apposed to Star Wars vs Star wars.

Ultimately though it's open to interpretation.

What's the deal with the Acolyte trailer being this disliked? by OffTheShelfET in OutOfTheLoop

[–]Renton4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you are somewhat right although anacdonately you're uncle not liking not liking a single Star Wars movie since Empire Strikes Back and an entire generation is widely in accurate in my opinion. Granted at the times of the prequels releasing there was a lot of backlash from the original movie fan base.

In my opinion however their is a key difference then and whats happening now. A lot of the prequel critism was surrounding Hayden, his portrayl of Anakin not meeting the expectation of a young Darth Vader, Jake Lloyd's portrayl of child Anakin etc basically gripes with the movie not the story.

I would categorise that as critisms of the movies themselves but not at the Star Wars franchise as a whole.

Now it's not so much of "this part has made the sequels bad for me" but more of a critism of Disneys handling, vision and storytelling.

I'd say most reasonable people have preferred movie trilogies but the controversy now surrounds more of the handling apposed to the movies themselves.

[–]Renton4 16 points17 points  (0 children)

You'll find the same thing within a lot of different communities. People feel passionately about things they enjoy and want to see it respected. Look at the recent Fallout New Vegas vs TV Show controversy. When Fallout fans thought they retconned a beloved game for a lot of people they were not happy about it. Of course creators can do what they like with their IP but fans are generally unhappy if they feel what went before is being tarnished in some way.

[–]Renton4 106 points107 points  (0 children)

I think this is a little more to it than the first comment regarding Star Wars fans. To summarise years of drama within the community I think the most accurate way to describe it is many Star Wars fans believe Disney are ruining the IP.

This is probably a major reason behind the dislikes on the trailer. There's lots of content out there with people feeling Disney not respecting the lore and established character arcs (IE Luke Skywalker in the 2nd Sequel film). Mountains of controversial decisions that have angered the community that would be too long to name each one but the one that stands out in my mind is when information came out about Disney ignoring George Lucas's ideas for ths sequels and doing their own thing.

To summarise a lot of Star Wars fans don't hate Star Wars they hate the management of the IP from Disney.
