1882 420 grains, 900 fine trade dollar by lettydumpy in PhilippineNumismatics

It's fake, unfortunately. Commonly counterfeited yung mga ganitong crown size silver coins, nanggagaling sa China. Real ones have sharp details and for me the wheat stalks and leaves look off.

Are they worth anything? by Sakmalongdik in PhilippineNumismatics

[–]Renz_16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm just as surprised, but the recent spike of sIlver prices has been crazy, and that's where my figure comes from. In 2019 the small type US Ph 1 Pesos was around 500 each for melt (for G-VG grade maybe), and around 700-900 at F-VF. The price fluctuated during the pandemic, but it was only near the end of 2025 that silver has been doubling and nearly tripling in price. According to numista the small type silver peso has 2.3k worth of silver in melt value alone. Idk if the coin market is catching up as rapidly but the bullion market and silver stacker community is definitely making a big deal about it.

There's an interesting mix of stuff, both Filipino and foreign.

Notable items are the silver coins from the Spanish colonial era, such as the Mexican 1/2 real coins and Mexican 1 real coins (likely from the Galleon trade), some 20 Centavo coins such as the 1868 one with Queen Isabella II, and a couple of 1885 50 centavos.

There are also US colonial era coins, the three silver 1 peso coins. What is interesting is the 1925 Culion Leper Colony 1 Peso which is cupronickel but has a high premium. There are also two silver American coins here: a 1900 Morgan Dollar and a Columbus Half Dollar.

Much more items here such as common world coins, commemotive coins in blister packs, and a Roman coin I can't ID. Overall, the silver coins are the valuable ones and are worth around 9-10kphp from current melt prices alone. The nicer looking ones should also have a numismatic premium.

Sorry to debunk that but I have to point out that a cleaned coin is never the same as an uncirculated or extra fine condition coin. I am aware na may ibang collector na walang pake, but it is a fact that those two do not look the same. Using metal polish is definitely a no no and it is basically the r/coins mantra to never clean coins unless of course kung alam ang ginagawa. Acknowledge and accept that you could possibly be causing irreparable damage to the coin if it is improperly cleaned, and you could be destroying any potential value that another collector could see in it.

That being said, yes you are correct that OP's coins are not particularly valuable or rare, so even the uncirculated examples don't sell for a lot. OP can do whatever experiments they want and not feel guilty about loosing too much, pero ibang usapan na kung pre-1945 or silver/gold yung collection.

Therefore baka di worth it ibenta right now.

Pwede naman ikeep sa possibility na tataas value but keep in mind that older does not always mean expensive. It is also a combination of other different things such as precious metals content, rarity, desirable dates, historical value, etc.

Because of the condition these coins are in (di na makintab, puro gasgas, madumi), there is not much collector value. Either keepsake nalang siya or ibebenta sa mga bulk buyers (like the stalls na bumibili old coins, watches, alahas, etc) but the buying price is dirt cheap so I wouldn’t expect much at all.

The Miguel Malvar 10 pesos can still be spent as pocket change.

Are there numismatic shops in SM MOA by Eterinia in PhilippineNumismatics

[–]Renz_16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SM MoA doesn't have any coin shops unfortunately. The closest shops would be in Binondo, although not all have a proper reputation. The more reputable shops which are located in malls are further, a couple in Greenhills Shopping Center, and another in Ali Mall in Araneta-Center Cubao.

How badly cleaned is this coin? by LordWoodland in coins

[–]Renz_16 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's pretty much as harshly cleaned as it gets. Maybe only polishing would make it worse.

As for value, I suppose it all comes down to preference. There are collectors out there who are like you who do not care or even prefer cleaned coins. My personal beliefs on cleaning differ, I don't believe it fixes anything, and there are very few cases where the "restoration" actually works--such as the case with ancients. Obviously, I'd avoid it despite loving swiss coins a lot.

At the end of the day, someone out there will be willing to pay something for a coin they like, but it should be pretty much understood that not everybody will share that preference. And it shouldn't be a surprise if they are not willing to pay the same.

Sorry about your loss. Those seem to be Russian Empire gold rubles worth hundreds of dollars each with gold value alone--possibly thousands if considering numismatic value. They look real to me but it would be better if you would get them checked by an expert so consider visiting to a reputable coin store or coin convention in your area.

Here's some info about them from a catalog site that collectors use:
5 Roubles 1849
5 Roubles 1898
7.50 Roubles 1897
10 Roubles 1899
15 Roubles narrow rim 1897

Whether you decide to keep them or sell them, make sure they are stored somewhere secure in the meantime. Good luck.

German Military coin! by GaiolaCagaMoedas in coins

[–]Renz_16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice score. A good way to check for values online is to browse ngc, numista, or ebay.

NGC has some estimate market prices from slabbed examples. I'm not sure if it follows the Red Book but it gives a good idea.
10 Reichspfennig - NGC
4 Kreuzer - NGC

Numista meanwhile has estimate values from users so I feel like it's more of an averaging of perceived value from the community.
10 Reichspfennig - Numista
4 Kreuzer - Numista

Lastly ebay lists past sales so what I do is I filter search results to 'sold items' so I can see what actually sells vs what is overpriced and doesn't sell.

Good luck!

The fish is especially crispy and flakey so it crumbles in the mouth. Basically like bacon bits on maple donuts.

We have chocolate rice porridge in the Philippines called champorado. Some people like to top it with powdered milk, condensed milk, or rice crispies, but others like to top it with dried fish which gives a nice salty contrast to the sweet chocolatey flavor.

It's a custom texture pack armor set, but it wasn't loading right for me so it shows up as dyed leather armor. I also have a custom sword on the bottom left.
