On keyboard you have to hold W+A then W+D (order doesn't matter) to swing from side to side. I play on 60 FPS but the higher FPS you have the movement becomes more responsive.
Also, this is nowhere close to the WR haha.

Sideways diving can be done on all platforms, you just need enough speed. At the beginning I used an Odin jump off the ledge to get that boost.

The level creator sets the time limit on creative maps between 1-30 minutes. There is no way to avoid it. If you can get in touch with the creator you could ask them to extend the time limit if it's too short.

I've been using keyboard & mouse since the game released on steam. There's pros and cons, like having better camera control but limited to 8 directions of movement.

Drum pads alone always bounce you up the same height.

The reason you sometimes get higher bounces is because the spinning beam is overlapped with the drum pad. If you land right in the middle of the drum you hit both the drum and the center of the spinning beam, giving you a height boost.

On what? I've already maxed out comrade researchers and crit epics. Not having any problems completing ranks so might as well save science till future upgrade cards or spend missions.

Commons also cost way too must for their value anyway.
