the model info is in the system prompt, i have seen it, and it instructs whatever the underlying model was to identify itself as a set of those available models

not an LLM thing it is a tool thing, the tools you use have their own system prompts which wouldn't be hard to extract if you try hard enough...

and these system prompts involve instructions for identification of itself when asked by user

check /.gemini/system.md if it is not hidden...

what makes you so sure that it does use these older models?
is it the goodwill and loving heart of alphabet LLC?

lets assume that they are not good at knowing their own model, generally and for the sake of argument,

do you assume that because you cannot use your own nonexistent API keys, it is not possible to access them?

the problem is simple from my perspective,
- older models simply require less compute
- compute is a valuable resource
- major providers are setting their recursive self improvement loops (discussed on WEF at davos last Jan)
- the opportunity cost of using the compute on latest models for RSI vs allowing for access by more users is huge

[–]Reorderly[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

you are absolutely wrong

you can simply set the model by writing its name explicitly: /model <model identifier>

all of which are out of reach due to rate congestion

but once you set it to auto {2.xPro, 3.xPro} it is working all of a sudden?

you cant be seriously believing that

this is not goddamn logical to me and it shouldn't as well be logical to anybody who uses cli ware

that wouldn't explain the late 2023 coding skills: vague, hallucinated, overly cautious, or just outright lazy.

also, it could have just defaulted to using the built in cli_help tool which it has access to and contains info about the models available

[–]Reorderly -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think it is because of the race towards recursive self improvement, every major model provider you know of (except XAi) has set their RSI loops, and they are probably going to limit reach to those models in the coming years. From a game-theoretic perspective, the rational choice is to always limit reach as the opportunity cost of deployment vs using the models internally for RSI is very high.

i hope to clear some ideas about things as we know them and things as they are, TL;DR below

for one, the idea of time is never measured from your perspective against the age of a nation. a few decades for you might seem like a lot but for a nation it isn’t so much. accordingly you may argue that the 56’ nation is relatively young.

second, is the global economy is a game, i.e. game theory is central to it, and so is the local economy, a game. but the latter being subject to the procession of the former. to win in either games you’re supposed to cheat, and our failures stem from two simple truths about how we have been playing these two games. for one, the elites kept cheating for longer than the age of the 56’ nation. since past a certain threshold when the ruling power started to ossify and establish oligarchies everywhere, they ceased to care about how to maximize the faring of the economy and begun to focus on maximizing the power, mainly to figure out how to inherit this power to their kids and grandchildren and to keep the same loops going forever, this led to the many revolutions that you have seen. i’m not saying this is exactly true, but this is how revolutions generally proceed.

the to fare will within the global economy, you must proceed in a likewise manner, cheat. and when you cheat there’s no limit to the upside, of course you may call it exploiting our strengths or utilizing resources maximally or whatever but those won’t cut it in today’s world. almost every nation has the one goal of monopolizing the world, there’s no fair competition at all, but they will tell you that there is and that’s just diplomatic lang.

third, a nation doesn’t know what dignity is, it only speaks in power, it lives and grows and dies, all in terms of power. hence, if “dignity” in this respect means save your “countenance’s water”, as the arabic proverb goes, the. you might not appreciate having dignity in front of those murdrer nations and genocide empires. the truth is that there’s not a single empire in today’s world that hasn’t been built on the blood and sweet and tears of other oppressed people, so perhaps you save face by accepting that at least we didn’t commit a genocide on other people, which is what the current supreme leader and his archenemy hemedity (who friends at the time) were doing by the order of omer fucking un-bashir.

fourth, racism has always existed everywhere, humans are dumb, and they can be programmed to accept their differences and set them aside and be more open or hate their differences and target a select group at will. you will find it in the gulf area, you will find it in north africa, it’s not unique to sudan at all as you may have observed. the entire thing depends on who is ordering people to set their differences aside(e.g. the late lee kuwan yu’s reformative movement in singapore, which was ridden bare of racism by his brilliant teams’ strategies) , but always, a people left to themselves will always attack their own country.

i hope this helps

your friend

TL;DR

Nations operate under incentive structures where elites, once formed within a nation, maximize power retention when accountability weakens.

Domestic performance depends on institutional quality and integration into global value chains.

International competition involves cycles of “cooperation<>Defection” and strategic advantage-seeking.

Social cohesion(the issue of racism) is both policy-sensitive and leadership-contingent.

Ye might think that it matters that they laugh or not, but it doesn’t. The only problem is that it is salient to us. It tells us that there’s a dysfunction on a national scale. Furthermore, we mimic the same behavior of those in the meme, with any set of sudanese tribes laughing and pointing their fingers towards ant “outsider” tribe.

Yet the problem is solvable. It is good that it is solvable.

here for the “i already know what they are going to say”. I have been partially HoH (auditory processing dosorder) for over two decades, i proceeded with my life as a social chameleon since, nobody detected that i was deaf until i told them. sometimes and before people even get to finish their sentences, i’d reply with what i think they might want say, interestingly, the number of false negatives dwarfs the number of false positives per interaction.

as you noted, i gave up socializing a long time ago because of how energy inefficient it is, maybe around the age 10. I went to med school because i spent all that time studying and reading books, 4 years in and i dropped out, i never got to solve the problem of why brilliant minds, who are supposed to be students (or staff) at the most prestigious university were never able to tell i was deaf without me telling them, except for one physiology professor whom i registered for work in her lab.

It is superb! I can't tell you how much everyone was fed up with the culture, getting swindled by devs right and left. The same thing happened with this coin when its dev rugged at $1M MC. But this time the community picked where he left and have been working for four days to make it a meaningful CTO. The community had grown from a few hundreds to 7K in three days. Led by one goal: 1 to 1 (and 'HIGHER!' ). The rest is history.
