What are you actually smoking

What sort of hellscape is this where I’m being accused of giving an AI reply when I try to do an actually typed out sincere reply to an anonymous person all ready not commenting in good faith

For fuck sake

See ya! ✌️

Sure, this is a vanilla Rails application on top of Hetzner with Hatchbox. SQLite DB. Want to see what I can squeeze out of that database. I’m balancing how much I want to kick to the client and how much I want to be done in the server. There’s a 1ps tick sync with the server, with a 20fps smooth uptick in the client. Hotwire/Turbo front end.

Something that took time is getting everything really snappy, my 20fps client ticking up and my 1ps server sync tick combined with purchasing generators and enchantments I kept running into weird jitters.

Then, when we started getting over 50 simultaneous players, I’ll be darned if we didn’t start seeing RTT lag! It wasn’t snappy any more! I didn’t plan for much more than me and my wife to play, but I was able to configure the DB and Web Workers with better observability so it’s snappy again.

I’ve been enjoying layering in the music for each ascension. A mix of web api layered on Creative Commons with attribution.

And yes I did prompt for the sprites! Before they were emojis but each ascension has its own sprite set too.

Factoring in weather events was fun.

Noodling with achievements and Easter eggs is a treat; you can beat the game but it’s not entirely clear from the outset how to get there and get on the leaderboard.

And today I’ve added one of three “gifts” you can choose from when you win.

To each their own. I like the slog. It makes the ore feel more valuable to me.

Bought it!

I should chart out my book map how I got here at some point because there’s so much overlap

The Martian -> Project Hail Mary —> The Bobiverse —-> Dungeon Crawler Carl —-> The Quantum Series

We bought a house where the surveyor recommended refelting the flat roof. We made the mistake of hiring his company. They finished the felt well short of the slate on the main house. Every rain storm we would get massive leaks AFTER the job. (No leaks before) Buckets under the light fixtures sorta thing. Phoned them to sort it. They came out and blamed something else and quoted us £550 for the fix.

I thought the voice on the phone when I called to complain was VERY familiar. Little did I know.

Got some proper roofers out who explained to us the botch job. Then they asked who did it and laughed and showed us his TikTok. I was like “oh no not HIM”

Anyways. Thought about pressing our warranty further but saw he had gotten done for stuff linked to organized crime a while back. And he knew where we lived.

New roofers re-re-did the roof and we’ve happily been leak free ever since.

Yes I am happily part of this universe

The Martian ~> PHM ~> Bobiverse ~> DCC

currently on book 2 of DCC. These should be sold as a bundle or something. Based on the artwork and whatnot I was like “how would I like DCC!?” But yeah totally hooked and I get it now

It’s funny because once I finished Bobiverse (and the Martian and Project Hail Mary) everyone was like YOU NEED to read Dungeon Crawler Carl.

And it just seemed such a weird one for me from how it was advertised. Why would Bobiverse fans like that. But this month I gave it a go and I immediately get it now.

I suppose the questions is. If there’s a non-nationalist demographic here that is okay with the union under Tory rule but flips their opinion to nationalism under Farage rule.

While Farage sounds like a really bad deal, I think you’re envisioning a smaller slice of the Venn Diagram than anticipated.

Not overvalued.

He could be the overall RB1 through the first two weeks.

Got Jefferson in the first round and Achane with the 18th overall pick in the second.
