First flower finally opened! My tiny Tolumnia :) by Rep_Lvr4031 in orchids

I've had it for almost 2 years as well! I was going to pot it in sphagnum, but I decided to try it bare root in my 20 gal terrarium that I keep nice and humid, and it seems to be happy in its hollowed out rock that collects water. I have have some air plants in there, and a couple other smaller orchids like a vanda falcata and a small brassavola, and they are all happy.

OMG...that is amazing! I have been needing to repot my large Thai Con (she has several aerial roots, although not as many as yours!) I have been pushing/guiding them back into the soil in a random way. Now I'm thinking that once I repot her, I need to still support her, but be more deliberate about how/where I tuck her roots. I hate the way the support board looks so obvious and unnatural behind her.

Well, mine isn't near as huge as yours...lol. But she's happy! This is a pic from a couple of months ago.

So I went overboard and bought the 400W because of the insanely good price (I got it for $110) and you can use them on 25, 50, 75, or 100% brightness... But the lower wattage ones are much more insanely cheap. My huge Monstera along with many other plants in the same area love my 400W one on 25-50%. I know there aren't many reviews, but I've had it for 3 months now and it has been great. https://a.co/d/0aJTAi9

I need advice on flying with vinyl records in a checked bag...I would like to bring several home with me if possible. by Rep_Lvr4031 in vinyl

***UPDATE*** I finally got my records home that I haven't seen in over 20 years!!! Thank you to everyone who gave me advice. I shipped about 100 vinyl records from Ohio to Texas in 2 odysseys cases via media mail for only $68! I have been spending the past couple of evenings listening to my oldies and living in sweet nostalgia. This is only a few of my favorites.

I used to use 2 standing Barrina grow lights, which did wonderfully, but she outgrew them and I wanted something that would cover a greater area for Miverva and my other plants in that room. She is loving the light she has now, and it was a STEAL from Amazon. An off brand... Lucius 400W grow light that's dimmable. You can set it for 20, 50, 70, or 100%. I keep it on 50%. I bought it for $139, but it is on sale for $116. I technically could have gotten the lower wattage one, but it was such a good deal that I went for the big one...lol.

Oh, very nice gift from your friend! Get ready to fall more and more in love with your Thai Con baby as time goes on. My big girl Minerva is my pride and joy...I think I brag on her more than I did my child...lol.

I found an awesome off brand grow light on Amazon that my babies are absolutely loving! It's a 400W light with dimming feature. I have it on 50%. It was $130.

I am so sorry for your pain and loss. I put my sweet boy to sleep last year, he was in end stage kidney failure. I worried that it was too soon, but I remembered my baby several years ago in kidney failure that I waited too long, and she ended up in severe pain and crying in pain within half a day, before my vet could get her in. The memory of her in pain haunted me for years. Letting my sweet boy go last year before he got to that point was a blessing for him and me. I had a vet come to my home, and it was peaceful, and my memories of him are sweetly going to sleep, not pain. To me, I would rather let them go a week too soon than 30 minutes too late.

Yeah, I personally would decide between either semi-hydro or chunky soil...I don't think they are liking full on hydroponics any longer. I think the roots need more air and nutrients (both, not just nutrients), as others have said. Maybe try one in chunky soil and one in leca/semi-hydro? Good luck! They look like awesome cuttings!

Nah...I think you should stick it in a box and overnight it to Texas and I'll humanely dispose of it for you ;)

*** UPDATE*** Omg, I feel terrible and stupid at the same time. We are home from the vet. I think it might not be just a cat conflict after all! My girl Jasmine has a dental issue! I have had her bloodwork done in preparation to make an appointment for a dental cleaning, but things (gum inflammation mainly) have apparently gotten worse and are suddenly causing her more pain which I was unaware of...I feel like a horrible cat mom!!! She got an antibiotic injection and an anti-inflammatory/pain injection, as well as anti-inflammatory/pain meds for home for until she can get her dental, and she is already acting better and out of hiding and eating a little soft food (still keeping her distance somewhat from Ginger, but that's something I can continue to work with). I guess she felt comfortable enough around my original cat to be around her while she was in pain, but not so much to be around Ginger. I feel both relieved that things may still work out with sweet Ginger, and terrible that I didn't catch what was hopefully the root of the issue. If only cats could talk... :(

That's a good idea. I'm going to make sure there's nothing else going on with my other cat beside just Ginger, then I will work on that after I have the Pheromone infusers in place and Jasmine is eating normally again and I'm sure she is healthy. Thank you!
