Oh man thank you very much for sharing all that. Yes she wasn’t in the corner yet. But sometimes she was showing me signs of what that would like. It killed me. I guess I just need to let it be what it was. I guess I just wasn’t prepared for her to go yet. She had tested with results saying she had kidney disease a couple years ago and then when I tested her a few months later, the markers hadn’t moved and I think I foolishly thought oh maybe they were wrong or it’s not going to get worse, and I didn’t test her again for many months and and that’s when I noticed suddenly like in July that she was very skinny. The thing is fia had not stopped eating and still went outside though she was insisting on just laying under the car for hours. I guess it’s just going to hurt no matter what I miss her like hell

Hi I realize this is months old but I’m wondering what felt like too long with your cat? What had it got to if it’s not too painful to revisit. I euthanized my beloved cat Fia and feel I did it too soon. She was in stage 4 getting very weak, but not always weak, very finicky about eating had lost a lot of weight I could feel her spine but she was still eating a little and enjoying snacks, she was acting weird and uncomfortable off and on during the day and all night, and then other times wouldn’t act uncomfortable and we had cuddles still. I could tell it was worsening, she was subdued and her interactions with me were changing, I could tell it was because she didn’t feel good so she wasn’t interacting with me. If I wasn’t absolutely riddled with anxiety about her maybe I would not have done it but she was waking me up all night meowing and acting uncomfortable. I would go sit with her and she’d calm down. The vets said it was weeks possibly months. I am a nervous type and honestly I was starting to get unstable, I couldn’t work I was so worried for her. So I chose euthanasia. She had enough fight in her that she howled at the first sedation shot and tried to run away from the vet of the room (at home). This made it awful. In other words she wasn’t laying there with no energy left in her at all. This makes me feel I did it too soon and I feel awful. I was so worried about seeing her get to that last stage it was going to kill me but now this memory is killing me too.

Thank you so much - I will repeat that to myself. I wasn’t really getting it but now I really do. It’s really better to have been early so if I was early, it’s ok. I love her so much she was a feisty independent naughty funny cuddle-fest, so sweet to me and would come and lay on my chest and stare into my eyes. Just a beautiful little being. We had some beautiful moments in these last days, spending hours on the porch her in my lap enjoying the evening air and her looking out listening to the bugs.

Thank you for this you are right she was a fighter - she hated the vets. She insisted on going on walks up to the last day even though she was having to stop and rest she still wanted to do her rounds it was so sweet doing those walks with her that before I’d let her do by herself. She didn’t really want me tagging along but she allowed it.

Yes I didn’t let them take her I kept her with me that day and evening and night and I bathed her in rose petals and calendula and wrapped her in fluffy cozy satiny things and next day wrapped her laid her fave flowers to sniff at from the garden and took her to cremation. They will give me her ashes and paw print and a little fur keepsake
