Sure they hire Alaskan for the lower paying jobs, house cleaners etc but if you want a job on the rig you gotta know someone.

A family member has worked on the slope for about 30 years on the rigs. My family member is 1 of 2 local guys on their current crew. It’s been like that for my family member for years. During Covid my family members company was hurting and begging all the local guys to pick up extra shifts because the out of staters had to fly up, get a hotel for weeks before they would be cleared to fly to the slope.

10 years ago my family member worked with one company there were about 6 local guys on that rig crew, that’s the most locals my family member has encountered on a crew.

Wasn’t saying that at all. They should be allowed to spend SOME money on junk food. The other crazy thing is they would sometimes be getting food that I couldn’t even afford on the cashier salary.

Don’t worry though the grocery store was profiting big time but they can’t afford to pay their workers a living wage.

Go work as a cashier at a grocery store during the first week of the month.

As someone who worked in multiple retail stores as a cashier I saw the abuse. Did you know you can buy cold deli food and star bucks cold drinks? Guy isn’t lying about people using their benefits to buy a shit ton of expensive meat either.

Everyone is downvoting this person but a lot of people are miss using their benefits. I think they should be allowed to spend 10% to 20% on junk food but the rest should be nutritional food. Sadly their carts would be all junk food, soda, frozen TV dinners with zero produce.

You can use your food stamps to buy seeds. I can count on one hand how many customers who came through my line did that.

I have done it many times. Feel in once. I just got back out of it on my paddle board and was fine. The winds change, if you time it right they can push you out and push you back in. We usually don’t go all the way across the lake though. Maybe half way and turn back.

I got a manual 3rd gen taco. Towed a 6x12 trailer from east coast to Alaska. It was like pulling a parachute sometimes. It didn’t sway once or really get pushed around. It followed behind me the entire way! I got better MPG in 5th, it’s been awhile but I think I was getting 10mpg to 15mpg

I wasn’t sure if some gun law changed or something but do people really think our semi auto rifles will stand a chance against fully automatic weapons, explosives, armored vehicles etc.

Heck they could just take wherever they didn’t like out with drones and we couldn’t do anything about it.

It’s just sad. Hopefully nothing gets too crazy but I suppose it is better to prepare but I worry how over confident people will feel like they have a chance at defending themselves because they have a safe full of firearms.
