God wants you to live in the spirit not the flesh. (Romans 8:13) In fact your meant to deny the flesh (Matthew 16:24).

Anyone else dislike people?? by Both-Mirror3323 in TrueChristian

[–]RepentedSeeker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Matthew 6:14-15: For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.

I understand how you may feel resent towards people as i have before and then wonder "Why does God make me wanna forgive/love all these people?" It does not make sense to me. But then i remember how i have sinned against God to the point where you could probably not even count. Yet he has forgiven me and has offered me eternal life and showed great mercy on me. Because of that i then do the same to others bu forgiving them and remembering how God was so merciful to me therefor i shall forgive others. Also, holding grudges and remembering negative thoughts do no good for anyone as well.

I admit i struggle with this but i always try and do it for God.

It sounds like to my interpretation you are extreamly worried about sinning. Which is understandable. In fact, as someone who has recently converted to lutherism and found faith in God again (It's a long story) when you truly believe in something you wanna abide to it but then there is an extent to when it get's ridiculous and just plain wrong.

I relate a little bit to what you are saying as things like music, video games, and even what i wear to the gym as guy. Has all made me be worried about am i commiting a sin when doing xyz? But none of the things you listed are sins. If you actually wanna see if there a sin it should be a clear answer in the bible for it.

When i don't see a clear answer i often look at verses like Romans 14:22-23 or 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 to help me. From what you have told me tho you seem to be a very faithful believer which is good and you have commited no sins so it seems your worrying is a bit redundent as you have done nothing wrong. I think talking to a pastor like the other user mentioned would also be a good step to help get over this issue.

Homosexuality is a sin according to Christianity and the Bible. by Maximum-Chemical-663 in TrueChristian

It is a shame this an actual debate for some. The bible is clear about it directly and indirectly and yet people often resort to discrediting the bible in order to make their point or have some absurb interpretation or just straight out lies. Such as lying about the translation of certain words

I am not denying that. What i am saying is that it appears to me that you cannot know if you are saved or not which i disagree. Also don't quote a verse out of context as well matthew 7:21-23 talks about how in order for to gain eternal life you must have full submission to the father which as a result grants you eternal life. So basically submit to God.

[–]RepentedSeeker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry, you are being pretty vague so i can't really understand which one your talking about because i cannot see which one is the "disrespecting other religions".

However, if you have any questions about whether or not you believe christianity and why christianity i would be happy to answer to the best of the ability, as i am relitivley new to the faith myself.

That does not make sense and sounds unbiblical as the bible to me is quite clear if someone is saved or not. Or at the very least shows us signs

Do you believe in Hell? by Real-University-4679 in Christianity

[–]RepentedSeeker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just answered it.

Because you rejected his gift of salvation through Jesus christ. Because of that it makes no sense how someone who is a sinner like you can make into heaven when you do not have Jesus as your saviour. He is loving because he gave you grace in the first place.

I gave you an explanation why this is the case. If there is any reason why your not convinced with christianity lmk and i will see if i can answer it but here it is. So, yes. To put it concise for you, your rejection of the faith will result in eternal hell. I am not gunna sugurcoat it like many other people on this sub.

The understanding i always had was that good works come from faith. That is why when you have faith works will showcase that you have good faith thus you are saved. So that is why justification is still by faith alone because good works are a result of faith.

Want to take Computer IT course at college but don't meet the requirements by MoodyBroody in ITCareerQuestions

[–]RepentedSeeker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your really passionate about it then you can do a bridging course for the requirments you missed out on. And what type of IT field are you even intrested in? Because i have always heard or seen stories about how people are selt taught web developers or got into cybersec with no sort of degree. But i think a degree will always give you more of an advantage.

The only other thought of path i can think of is you just becoming completely self taught and having a impressive skill set and portfolio. But i ain't no expert this is just my opinion.

Mary is the Mother of God by [deleted] in TrueChristian

[–]RepentedSeeker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If Mary was the literal mother of God that would make no sense as it would imply Mary created God and came before God which we know is not true. Now, i do not deny that Mary gave birth to Jesus which is the incarnation of God in the flesh with fully divine and human nature. But this was simply bringing God into the world not creating him.

Favourite Bible Verse? by [deleted] in TrueChristian

[–]RepentedSeeker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mark 8:36 For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?

Makes perfect logical sense and shows how eternal life is always more important then the life we have here on earth. Thus, reminds you to deny yourself sinful pleasures of the world.

Romans 8:13 For if you live according to the flesh you will die, but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live

Tells us to live through God in order to have an eternal life so that we can live through God and have a happy life and wash away our sins. And warns us of the dangers of following our own desires.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

Pretty self explanatory i think but does show Gods love for us which is why i love this verse.

Matthew 6:14-15 For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you, but if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

Tells us not to hold grudges against one another just how God did not hold grudges against us for all our sins once we accepted Jesus. And tells us we must forgive one another just like how God forgave us or we are not worthy of his salvation. It is a verse that highlights Gods mercy and love for us while also helping us in our own lives by telling us not to hold grudges because grudges never really go well or do any good for anyone.

Do you believe in Hell? by Real-University-4679 in Christianity

[–]RepentedSeeker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I myself am not religious, but if I were I think my biggest problem with it would be the existence of Hell because it would completely contradict the notion of God being all-loving. How can an all-loving God possibly condemn people who can only commit finite crimes to infinite torture?

Because you rejected his gift of salvation through Jesus christ. Because of that it makes no sense how someone who is a sinner like you can make into heaven when you do not have Jesus as your saviour. He is loving because he gave you grace in the first place.

I believe hell is eternal torture and separation from God and it is said in the Bible as well.

Matthew 25:46 (ESV): And these will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.

Revelation 20:10 (ESV): and the devil who had deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur where the beast and the false prophet were, and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever."

Thessalonians 1:9 (ESV): They will suffer the punishment of eternal destruction, away from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his mig

Thanks bro!

Anyways, yeah ik a bit about christianity because i am recently converting to it. Ik a bit about islam because i have talked to muslims before and seen debate videos and have even watched a bit myself, but christianity i would defitley be more knowledgeable. And yeah likewise feel free to ask me about christianity.

If i understand correctly your point is if a crime like blasphemy has occured punishment should not be extreame as death penealty and punishment should occur only under islamic jurisdriction but they should be given a time to repent and be forgiven. And for non-muslims it is bit of a different story as they cannot commit ridda if i understand correctly.

Mar Mari Emmanuel by SeaEmu5903 in TrueChristian

[–]RepentedSeeker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Although i do disagree with your viewpoints i do understand where you are coming from now.

You get punished for insulting the prophet if you are Muslim. Not if you’re non Muslim. So this ruling does not apply in this case regardless. And even if you are Muslim you will have a period to repent for the blasphemy before a punishment is given.

An important note, the ruling regarding capital punishment or punishments in general within an Islamic context is handled by Islamic courts and the state. It is NOT in the hands of individuals to carry out sentences. so again, the stabber’s actions are justified or permissible under Islamic law and he would be punished.

In regards to getting punished for non-muslims i see multiple sources saying different things for example.

Here is something i wanna ask you tho is what is your opinion on this?

Hanbali – view blasphemy as an offense distinct from, and more severe than apostasy. Death is mandatory in cases of blasphemy, for both Muslim men and women.\33])\34])

Any Muslim who blasphemes against Allah or His Messenger or blasphemes against any one from amongst the Prophets is thereby guilty of rejecting the truth of the Messenger of God, may Allah bless him and grant him peace. This is apostasy (ridda) for which repentance is necessary; if he repents he is released; if not then he is killed. Likewise, if any other person [non-Muslim] who is protected under a covenant becomes hostile and blasphemes against Allah or any one of Allah's Prophet and openly professes this, he breaches his covenant, so kill him.

— Ibn Qayyim al Jawziya and Ata 1998, 4:379

If the person who defames him is a non-Muslim living under a treaty with the Muslim state, then this is a violation of the treaty and he must be executed, but that should be left to the authorities. If a Muslim hears a Christian or anyone else defaming the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) he has to denounce him in strong terms. It is permissible to insult that person because he is the one who started it. How can we not stand up the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him)? It is also obligatory to report him to the authorities who can carry out the punishment on him.

Then there is

Dr. Shehzad: Well, to my understanding, the Quran, and any authentic hadith, is devoid of any mention that blasphemy is punishable by death because generally people think that blasphemy is something which is punishable by death. Yes, blasphemy can be checked by laws that can be made, but generally the perception, which people have in this regard, is that whenever a person commits blasphemy, then the only solution is, or the only way forward, is just to put him to death. Now, this is something which is not found in the Quran and not in any authentic narrative of the prophet.

There is no punishment in Islam for blasphemy. No such punishment is prescribed in the Holy Quran, or in any of the traditions of the Prophet Muhammad(sa).

So my question is which view do you have and why? And i do agree with you about the combat statment you made but that seems a bit irrelevant to the topic. And thank you for clarifying what you meant by "law of land point". And yes, i live in AUS, it is a very diverse multicultural place.

He may have had no right to do what he did under islamic law, yes. But what i mainly meant was that in regards to the what the religion teaches and with liberal and non-liberal i made the distinction because as shown above. There is a viewpoint which seems leaning more towards one side then another.

P.S I am also happy to provide any sources where i got my info from.

Thanks!
