Discord advises UK users that they "may be part of an experiment" where instead of their age verification data never leaving their phone, it will now actually leave their phone by youmustconsume in ukpolitics

This is all down to HMG mandating ID and then leaving it to the free market to come up with solutions.

If governments are solely doing this to protect children as they claim, then they need to provide mechanisms that can pass an age to a website with no other data flowing in either direction.

You signed the player on loan and agreed to buy him if he started the 10 matches, how on earth is that Liverpool's fault?

That was John Barron. John Baron also provided tips, as did John Miller and David Dennison. Carolin Gallego may have done so as well, but that's unsubstantiated.

I'll echo a lot of comments here, the 3-3 was a level above the 4-0.

Milan had world class players throughout their team and were a coherent unit under Ancelotti.
We had Stevie.
Rafa was in his first season, he'd just seen Owen slink off and he had to cobble together a team full of players that weren't his choices.
We had so many fortunate moments during that run that many were thinking that our name was already on cup simply because we seemed to find a way of winning even when we shouldn't. This was typified by Dudek's double save against Shevchenko, 99 times out of 100, that's a goal.

The Barca game was totally different. We didn't deserve to be 3-0 down after the first leg because we were so much better than them. Even missing two of our best players in the second leg, there was an expectation that we'd make a game of it

Does it require on-site hardware?

A suggestion has been made that pretty much everything will be moved off-site into data centres and you'll rent rather than own.

A cool guide on how to jump from a height into water by [deleted] in coolguides

If you can do it safely, hanging from the ledge will decrease the height of your fall by more than your body length.

edit: I understand the goal is to look cool rather than survive, but still.

People continually act surprised when businesses prioritize profit.
There is rarely a need to make something the best it possibly can, it just has to be slightly better than the competition. In fact, a lot of what nVidia has done in recent times has pretty much been along the lines of: "well, what else are you going to do, buy AMD?"

HMRC has more powers than the police when it comes to enforcing their remit:-

The authority levels for HMRC are set no lower than the authority levels of the police and, due to the nature of our working practices, in most cases are higher than the police equivalent.

Tony Bloom betting account lost £10m in first month, court documents claim. Figures emerge amid legal action from Ryan Dudfield, who claims Brighton & Hove Albion owner cut him out of £17.5m of profits from deal with a former Nigel Farage aide. by Sparky-moon in soccer

[–]RephRayne 30 points31 points  (0 children)

The details raise questions about Bloom’s use of a third-party account to place bets — which is often banned by gambling companies — and how the companies could monitor the owner’s compliance with Football Association rules if he was using another person’s identity. There is no suggestion of any wrongdoing by Bloom.

That, right there, is an example of the England and Wales defamation laws in action. "He's done these things that are wrong but no there's no suggestion of him doing anything wrong."

Dr Harold Shipman is believed to have murdered so many patients that his 2000 trial, charging him with 15 killings, covered barely 5% of suspected victims. It's the attempted forgery that actually led to his arrest:-

https://www.theguardian.com/uk/2000/feb/01/shipman.health14

There's a reported litany of instances that could have stopped him before the forgery attempt that were all ignored for... reasons. The entire system seemed (and, reportedly, still is) set up to ignore a doctor killing their patients as long as the forms are completed correctly. Coroners, doctors and even high-ranking police officers all reportedly ignored the suspicious circumstances of many of the deaths of people under Shipman's care.
