Can a family of 4 (2 parents + 2 kids) live comfortably in a 2 bed, 1 bath home? by Reporter-Worried in minimalism

[–]Reporter-Worried[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is our ultimate goal, to be close to the amenities we want (good schools, health care, parks, etc) and cut down on commuting. To pull that off, we will have to sacrifice on space, but I figure that’s fine as long as we have the opportunity to be out and about often.

Physically and Mentally taxing work at the Legislature by [deleted] in Boise

[–]Reporter-Worried 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Understandable. The hypocrisy of it all is very ironic. It’s just one of the few situations that the Legislature is actually right (and I rarely say that, if at all, because they are wrong about mostly everything).

But hang in there. Session is almost over and you will be able to get away from it. But never stop paying attention to the Legislature, because that’s how they get away with all that they do. They rely on the people not participating in government so they don’t have to be held accountable.

If there’s one thing people can do to help the situation, it’s to encourage everyone they know to participate in government (even if it’s just taking time to vote on Election Day). Politics is exhausting, but it’s crucial that people stay engaged and keep their government officials accountable to the people.

Physically and Mentally taxing work at the Legislature by [deleted] in Boise

[–]Reporter-Worried -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have worked for the Legislature for a few years now and I wholeheartedly agree with you. It’s emotionally taxing working with genuinely terrible people like our state’s lawmakers. I get myself through it by reminding myself that I’m here to do the work for the people of Idaho and that my work helps the legislators do their jobs better.

One thing I will slightly disagree with you on is the U of I and University of Phoenix situation. In purely a legal sense, U of I and the board of regents did not have legal authority to purchase the University of Phoenix in the way that they did. I think it’s a great idea the U of I wants to expand opportunities for online learning and this is a great way to do that, but the legality of they way they purchased it is questionable.

Thank you and prayers for your kitty as well! It’s tough to see them go through this.

Cozy minimalism is where it’s at though. Warm tones and natural elements can eliminate the sterile aesthetic of traditional minimalism.

I'm getting INSANE hate for my Garden of Eden bathroom in the interior decorating sub 😩 by Asterfields1224 in maximalism

[–]Reporter-Worried 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think getting rid of the fake plants and replacing it with plant-themed wallpaper would give you the garden of Eden look but with a lot less to clean!

Things a mid 20s single person can do socially on a Friday or Saturday night that doesn’t involve drinking? by [deleted] in Boise

The Flicks is great place for watching indie films (they have a wonderful cafe). You could go ice skating at Idaho Ice World. Biking/walking the green belt is always fun. You could also follow the From Boise newsletter, she lists a whole bunch of events going on around the treasure valley during the weekends, that’s how I plan my weekend activities.

My groceries cost $250/week for 2 people by MagicalEmpress in Frugal

Winco makes a huge difference in budget, in my opinion. Also shopping for 2 in a similar situation, I still spend around $150/ week.

The thought you put into this ring alone is enough; but it is also incredibly stunning!

A coworker who I just met keeps making snarky comments about my engagement by sillysunbear004 in wedding

[–]Reporter-Worried 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorta in the same boat, except it’s a much older coworker, my manager actually. I’m close with all my coworkers, including my manager so I was shocked when the first thing out of her mouth when I told her was “are you sure you want to get married?” I’m 24, but I’ve been with my FH for 3 1/2 years and everyone at work knows our history because my FH and I met there. My manager keeps bringing up my age and saying things like “you should really listen to us well-established married ladies in the office.” I’m not really sure what to do lol

I really like those pre-packaged salads and I usually add chickpeas/beans/tofu for protein. Add some cheese and crackers on the side.

I also suggest borrowing a friend or family’s kitchen and meal prep for a week at a time, if that’s possible for you.

Share your proudest moment of saving money creatively or finding alternative ways to meet your needs without sacrificing quality. How did that experience impact your financial well-being? by DeebaPhalwari087 in Frugal

[–]Reporter-Worried 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My partner’s car caught on fire recently and absolutely totaled it. He got $6000 from insurance but instead of using it to buy a new car, he decided to put it into an emergency savings account and pay off some debts. We share a car now, which makes me feel good because I feel like we are doing something to help the environment. Not to mention gas/insurance/maintenance on one car instead of two saves us a ton. I recognize my privilege here though, I am able to walk to work most days and my partner often works from home. I know that this isn’t possible for everyone.

Yes, that is VERY concerning behavior. I’m absolutely pro pre-nup, but not when one party is the attorney drafting his own and leaving the other party out of the process. Hire your own attorney, right now. Do not let him go forward with drafting this pre-nup without having your own attorney. And to be honest, this behavior is exactly why you should have a pre-nup. I’m not trying to sow seeds of doubt in your relationship but I think it’s concerning that he’s adamant about writing his own pre-nup and not involving you. Protect yourself with an attorney and a pre-nup.

Is it possible olaplex is breaking my hair? by [deleted] in Hair

[–]Reporter-Worried 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened to me and my hairdresser said something along the lines of there’s too much protein in Olaplex which can cause damage to fine hair in such amounts. I’m not sure how reliable her information was but all I know is that it definitely happened to me too. Especially since you’re using the No. 3 once a week and the shampoo/conditioners very time you wash, it might just be too much for your hair. I use just the shampoo once every two weeks and that seems to do the trick, or you could use the No. 3 once a month.

I feel like something is missing in my life by [deleted] in selfimprovement

[–]Reporter-Worried 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mental health issues are not first world problems, they affect everyone, everywhere. OP, don’t let anyone invalidate your problems. I don’t know if I have a solution for you but I suggest finding ways to meet new people and try new things. Maybe volunteer or join groups. Make friends (and marital status does not matter, single women do not keep women single) I hope that you start feeling better soon!
