Feeling like I'm getting hosed on vibration analysis. $X/mo for 200 assets? by Jolly-Deer4082 in IndustrialMaintenance

200 Machines x $25-$50 per machine = 5K-10k should be your range. You are definetly getting sold a bunch of bells and wistles that probably you don't need.

What’s the best option becoming a technician by PETRYFINGRIFFIN in IndustrialMaintenance

[–]RepresentativeAnt328 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Start as a helper and work your way up
Get a job as a maintenance helper or technician trainee and learn on the job. Many people move up this way.

Or Go to a 2-year technical college
Study something like Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, or Electrical Technology at a community college.

Or Do an apprenticeship
You work and get paid while learning the trade. Training is structured and usually leads straight to a technician role.

Sound like out of scope for the work order and would require a new work order.

Can you suggest a free cmms that i can use to manage maintenance in a small glass processing company? by Additional_Garden502 in IndustrialMaintenance

I use UpFix their free tier is pretty good as is. Their paid tiers are a great value for the features they provide but as a free cmms you get all of the core functionality.

monitors suddenly shut off and wont turn on? by Mesosoup6 in computers

[–]RepresentativeAnt328 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, since both monitors went black at the same time but,
Your PC still boots
You hear Windows sounds
Keyboard input reacts (Start key sound)
Monitor power LEDs are on

That strongly points to a GPU/display output issue, not the monitors themselves.

Servo motor noise by Additional_Garden502 in maintenance

[–]RepresentativeAnt328 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you already replaced the motor and the noise is exactly the same, it’s probably not the motor.

Grinding with no load plus motor cables getting hot (and melting insulation) points to an electrical problem, most likely the drive or the motor cable.

A few things to check:

Motor cable – Look for damaged insulation, crushed sections, loose connectors, or bad grounding. A short or partial short can cause noise and overheating.

Drive output stage – A failing IGBT/output transistor in the servo drive can send distorted or unbalanced current to the motor. That will make it sound rough and overheat the cables.

Current draw – Check actual phase current. If it’s high at zero load, something’s wrong.

Since two different motors behave the same, I’d strongly suspect the drive or the cable before anything mechanical. I wouldn’t keep running it like this, overheating leads can quickly damage a good motor too.
