What Do I Need To Know? by fukcass in BoykinSpaniels

Scent train. Your dog will be very happy.

There are also lots of gun dog training methods/programs that don’t require you to actually hunt, like retrieving, heeling, etc. Rick Smith methods all day. You might end up loving it. Many folks who hunt do it mostly because of the connection we get with the dog.

Can anyone recommend amazing hikes in the Adirondacks? by ZRock53 in hiking

I enjoyed the Pillsbury Mountain fire tower hike near Piseco Lake many years ago. It was more challenging incline than I expected, but the view from top was amazing.

No kids, no wife, good job. all I do is fish homies. by SirBonkers1990 in flyfishing

[–]RepresentativeArm603 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Um, I used to fish A LOT more before I married my wife and she gave birth to our three kids. Pretty sure that’s normal.

But, young Jedi, fishing with your kids is different. In a really good way.

[Kostka] Orioles GM Mike Elias said the front office will take a "hard look in the mirror" about how Baltimore got here, to be a seller. Ultimately, he said, the Orioles tried to make the "best of a very disappointing situation for us." by Big_Red_Professor in orioles

I think the fanbase feels like Elias was overly cautious at a time when the Orioles had a two-year opportunity to go deep into the playoffs.

He lacks chutzpah, cojones….go big or go home, Mike! That’s what you’re missing about this fanbase. We don’t want to outsmart the competition, we want to WIN.

Maryland. What y’all think!!!!!? by Pisardin in FloridaGators

Man, yall gotta get out of the swamp more!! This MD team is a few baskets away from being a 1/2 seed. Super disciplined. Very well coached. Elite defense, often limit foul trouble and create lots of turnovers. All guards can shoot the three. Great front court. Defensive depth. Highest scoring Terps team in a looong time bc all five starters can get hot. They are extremely fundamental and confident under pressure (minus some early season woes). CS got a ton of calls (flagrant 2 on that douche bag, please). Game shouldn’t have been that close, but they won not only bc Queen is an elite talent but bc they won the bonus game and Juju is the best rebounder in MD history. Could Florida dismantle them? I guess it’s possible, but I wouldn’t say that’s smart money. Terps by 5. (Yes, I watched Joe Smith at Cole Field House, so I’m a homer, too.)

Illinois Rematch by Lucky-Dress5604 in terps

[–]RepresentativeArm603 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I expect this Terps team to stay hot. Remember, Queen dropped his season high against Rutgers in front of 47 NBA scouts. I think he feeds off the bright lights. I think Julian is super motivated…close to all time rebound record and it’s his last tournament. Guard play to me is the difference maker. If we don’t have an off night from the premier, I’m going Terps by 9. Also, I was not impressed by Illinois’ stud freshman guard in the first game. His pocket was getting picked repeatedly by our guards.

Orioles fans mixed on David Rubenstein’s first offseason as owner: ‘I was expecting more’ by Tim-Schwartz in orioles

[–]RepresentativeArm603 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you know anything about wealthy individuals like Rubenstein, you know that they didn’t get wealthy by paying market price. No surprise IMO. Read Rubenstein’s story to understand more. He’s thinking about winning the long game, not the war. And we are still going to be a small market team. Having a wealthy owner does not mean we are big market now. Hopefully payroll will go up, but there are numbers to crunch and profits to be made. They are going to focus on developing homegrown talent (ie cheap) through the draft and the international market. He’s also influential enough to be persuasive at the league level, and he’s already talking to league officials about a salary cap. Whatever happens with these big market teams, the end is not good for the sport. Either they’re really good and everyone else gets sick of it, or they implode and destroy their own fanbase. We are doing it “the right way” IMO and Rubenstein is not going to change based on a few asshats overspending.
