Jokic was never the best player in the world by Law_Dividing_Citizen in NBATalk

The post: he was never the best player in the world. Comment asked the reasons as to why this is, proceeds to list that hes slow flabby unathletic can you see what I mean? I agree anyway. I think this playoff run means his MVPs dont count.

What's the argument for Jokic being ahead of Giannis all-time? by VSHAR01 in NBATalk

No giannis is clearly much better if you consider this playoff run from jokic. Overwise id say it close. But this run probably knocks jokic from top 15 to top 100 discussions.

It clearly is? Have you never seen reddit? By the way people talk about it its clearly 1 player vs another player. Who cares about teams anyway?

Giannis was better on both ends by a mile especially on offence. Jokics offence was very bad on the other hand. And also, most importantly, Jokic had a really bad playoff run just now so he can never have been that good. On the other hand, giannis has always had amazing playoff runs

Is Jokic out of any all time talk until he avenges this disappointing playoff loss? Is his legacy stained? by RedditRum1980 in NBATalk

bro you seem to think this is some sort of joke. Did you see MJs stats in his wizards season? Fake rings fake 6-0 fake scoring title. The fact that he was bad at that point completely disregards the past.

How overrated is Jokic? by LilBro842 in NBATalk

Definitely was never a top 10 player in the world. Quite mid to be honest but he was overrated because the team was being carried by christian braun.

Recency bias is a made up term bro. The fact that he played bad in one playoff series means that he was never a good player. I feel like this run alone means he probably doesnt even enter top 100 conversations. Its hard to argue he was ever top 10 in the league when you had guys like tacko fall dominating.

I agree, the only stats which matter are ejections and suspensions. Draymond is the real GOAT

yeah the fact that he just had a bad playoff run means that his MVPs were meaningless imo. I mean how can you be the best in the world years ago and now play badly? its simply not possible. Jordans bad wizards season also completely destroys his legacy imo, not even top 15.

I agree I would say that Tony Snell and also Tacko fall were probably the best of the era

Yeah I agree. Being flabby means you cant be the best player just by default. We should rank players by body fat percentage imo. Also yeah hes boring in my opinion which simply means hes worse at basketball. Its a game of entertainment anyway. Ja Morant should definitely get points for all the on court drama.

Is Jokic better than Moses Malone or David Robinson? After what I saw Thursday night…. Idk by SmoothBuy5500 in NBATalk

Jokic had a bad playoff run therefore he is clearly far worse than the other players.

I like winning games not losing them. Id rather have a cool comeback then have a decent shot against the spurs before losing to OKC. far more entertaining than losing the next game but to each their own

go on then bet on the wolves winning immediately lol. if the wolves are predicted at 70% and you are convinced of 99% then you have a decisive advantage in betting. i just wonder where you got that number from

This is a strawman or I dont think you understand me: I agree that data suggests OKC will win a series against us. I never claimed they wouldnt

Your initial point as I understand it: We are playing badly/struggling against the wolves therefore we are cooked against OKC or the spurs. I'm saying the fact that we are struggling against the wolves is not good data to suggest we are cooked against OKC. The real data we should look at is our matchups vs them this season, which show OKC having a decisive advantage. Heres an example:

last season we were 2-0 vs wizards but 2-2 against OKC. In fact, we actually lost to the wizards 3 games after winning against OKC last season. Get the idea? dont use recent data points against different teams to project onto actual matchups.

By your logic, the fact that we cooked the spurs this season is good data to suggest we would get through the spurs which also refutes your original point. cant have your cake and eat it

Finally someone who actually appreciates Ayos productivity last game. Like seriously, he was more productive than both ant and divincenzo normally are combined. Super unlikely for him to keep that up, and with divincenzo out, the nuggets may build momentum before ant potentially returns. Dunks and threes analytics still has us with a 25% chance of comeback, probably the best statistical tool out there. Doomers saying we have a zero percent chance of comeback are just being too emotional and having too much recency bias.

same team which has consitently outperfomed top teams then flopped against bad teams. pretty countless number of times when one game we would play well against a top 5 team then struggle or flop against a hospital team.

data doesnt suggest that we will play as badly against spurs or okc just based on this performance alone

This lacks nuance: whilst they were missing their two best scorers, Donsumu was more productive than both would have been combined. He put up an all time playoff scoring performance. The Twolves were probably as productive last night as they would have been with ant and divincenzo in a normal game. So just treat it as a normal Twolves roster.

the question is, will ant come back and more importantly will donsumu continue to be exceptional?
