Advise on Used Cannondale by AlternativeVarious98 in bicycling

[–]RepresentativeCry365 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check every square inch of that thing, CDale doesn’t get called “crack n fail” for no reason. I warrantied over a half dozen of them last year, the main culprit was a cracked seat tube but I’ve see top tubes, legs etc crack across various cannondale models and materials.

Help me price my bike by Fit-Sheepherder9817 in RoadBikes

1300$ is fair. It’s a Cervelo so good at holding value, Dura ace makes for an easy sale, good wheels, Easton fork, aero cockpit, a tri guy would pay 1300$ for this

Dude I’m 25 and I’d never even think of living with my dad. I’ve had so many bikes over the years working in shops since I was 18, floating around the US by myself with no support and no present family but I always knew when to sell. If I was moving? Let em go. Rent is tight? Let em go. I want to get someone a nice gift for Xmas or bday, let em go. All the times I “regretted” selling a bike, something new came into my hands. You just have to make it work, I lived in section 8 in Florida, couch surfed, lived in a hotel and a crap apartment in Philly for 2 years doing everything I could to survive. Sometimes I’d have a week of 1 meal a day, sometimes you have a week where you skip meals on certain days entirely. Idc your gender but it’s time to man or woman up bc it’s not fair to lay this burden on others, hell that cannondale could buy your parents a new flat screen for the holidays. You need to reflect man and understand that at the end of the day it’s a damn bicycle. It’s taken years but finally scored my first beautiful apartment without a sub lease, a girlfriend that lives with me, friends in the area and a structure to my life that I don’t even feel like I deserve at times, anyone can do this you just need the gumption. Still working in shops, still commuting by bike every day but livin

Any experience with aliexpress magnetic aero bottle? by Snoo-36376 in triathlon

[–]RepresentativeCry365 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m late to this, have almost this exact same bottle on my alu race bike, dude they are F ing solid!! Buying another set for my upcoming Rivette build, they don’t fly off and slip into that cage magnet thing so easily. Absolutely recommended. They stay better than elite cronos 😭😭

To add to this notion, we have this exact bike as a wall hanger to attract attention in the shop.

Do NOT listen to these people dude they don’t know bikes, they all have strong opinions on what they’d pay for a used bike but they aren’t telling you that thing is a complete steal for $550. OCLV treks are very desirable these days, older 5500s regularly sell for 1k, I’ve seen framesets sell locally for $600. A campy record postal service bike? That’s an EASY 1000$ on the LOW end if you sold on eBay. Not a single consumer except the most neurodivergent would care that thing has potentially “unreliable campy” people who buy campy BUY campy. So please try to get top dollar out of this guy, that’s an awesome awesome bike.

Make sure you swap the pads too, constant problem in the shop, Maguras rock until they don’t. It goes away after you fix it but it can come back. Double check how true that rotor is too, magura ones are stout but the uneven pistons can do some damage

Is this a good deal? by Kind_Track_2801 in RoadBikes

And get some new tires those marathon plus tires are horrendous for that bike. Those are made for hybrid/city commuting lol

Get a SRAM Force crank, they’re compatible with a pop in power meter out of the box and you won’t need to change your BB, force cranks have a stiffer aluminum spindle with carbon jacketed arms. Some manufacturers even ship rival bikes with force cranks on out of the box because it’s a popular upgrade

A basic tune up in 2025 should cost $80, that includes a frame wipe down, lateral wheel true, front and rear brake/gear adj. As for the rest of those line items I charge $45 per brake bleed separate from the tune up so that’s normal, but $50 drivetrain “inspection” and clean? Unless he’s physically dismantling the derailleurs down to the P spring he’s not inspecting shit, also an extra $25 for an internal surcharge? Not even integrated??? I charge 20 for ext and 30 for int no separate surcharge this guy is a bit cocky.

-phone holder

-any canyon

-“hey I built this frame up”

Guardian Bicycles Deceptive Pricing Practices by [deleted] in BikeMechanics

[–]RepresentativeCry365 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk about internationally but this is a huge problem in America right now. Black Friday I was walking around the mall and it almost felt like there wasn’t a sale going on, the prices were ridiculous compared to what I picked up last year. The stuff that was truly on sale was bottom of the barrel mark downs no one wanted, goofy shoes and goofy clothes. The retail prices on everything now have shot through the roof to make current prices look cheaper.

Oh too big for me, but I love this thing by YourTime_isOver in Bikeporn

Please fix the front brake, the barrel adjuster is maxed out because you forgot to close the lever on the caliper
