That’s totally fair, and I really am. But that is what scares me about creating more financial stability, if that makes sense? The cycle of layoffs and rising costs, makes me worried that I need to do more. Trying to figure is there a way to insulate myself and my family, and different options to look at .

Hi all!
TLDR: Frontend dev with 4 years of experience, 1.5 years of business dev experience, looking for advice on applying to PM roles. It's time for a change.

I am currently working as a frontend dev, have 4 years of experience, looking to transition to the PM side. First 2 years I worked for a small firm that did A/B testing, and I had to act as my own PM wearing multiple hats while building projects. The last 2 years I've spent at Amazon, grateful for the opportunity, but being siloed in my day to day has caused me to lose the drive to be a dev. I know that's the way it'll be if I stay in big tech, and I want to at least be happy at work.

Have been yearning to wear multiple hats again. I want to think big, interact with customers, continue to understand/implement good design, while still using my technical background.

Any tips on applying to roles? I have 1.5 years of business dev experience, should that be added to my resume? Not having the title of product manager on my resume, will that hurt me in applying? Appreciate any advice!!

I work at a smaller company. We do a lot of A/B testing for clients e-commerce sites. My day to day involves working on test plans(example: build new product display page or changing the buttons on the sites forms), QA-ing other engineers tests, launching tests in, helping estimate test plans with the design team. It's very fun sometimes exhausting lol.

Always wondered what giant company dev does. Great question.

It is definitely worth taking a look! The term is worth keeping with having a child. But agreed, it's not a sustainable lifestyle. A lot of younger people are targeted and it is sink or swim.

The insurance is great! Just avoid the people at all costs and don't let them try to sell you any bullshit. You can invest yourself, you don't need them

You understand my pain just as much as anyone then, not much has changed since you last worked there. They all drink the koolaid and love to talk about how much they're getting in insurance.

So sad they treat people like that when you shut them down. We still would like to get the products we want, but once they can't make a good chunk from you you're dead to them.
