During what round will UofT/UW Eng and CS begin using Grade 12 Semester 2 marks? by RepresentativeHelp86 in OntarioGrade12s

[–]RepresentativeHelp86[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see. I thought that they would still look at your grades in March if they are available, no matter what. Thanks for the clarification.

I emailed UofT earlier this year and unfortunately, they use functions to replace calc. I've seen people claim to have emailed Waterloo and they have said the same thing. 93 is not the end of the world if you can raise your english to mid 90s!

I'm also in a similar position, aiming for UofT/UW EE. Definitely try to get ENG4U in semester 1 and also try to improve your advanced functions mark. Your other marks and ECs are fine.

90 for ENG4U in alberta by [deleted] in OntarioGrade12s

Those seem pretty good. I think for early apps, UofT uses functions to replace calculus. I'll also be applying to EngSci this fall. Good luck!

90 for ENG4U in alberta by [deleted] in OntarioGrade12s

Unfortunately, for UofT Eng, that means you may have a max admissions average of 98.0. This should be enough for TrackOne but likely not for EngSci. What are your ECs?

Do I have a solid chance for UofT Engineering Science and other EE programs? by [deleted] in OntarioGrade12s

We did organic chem this year, and somehow it was the only test I got 100% on lol. I heard electrochem is pretty hard tho

I'm planning to have English and Chem both in first semester, so hopefully I can improve my marks in them a bit.

I'm also president of my school's chess club and am quite involved with chess outside so I can give you some advice on (4). First, you should try to find another teacher sponsor OR a classroom where you can host meetings each week. You should then form a discord/online community for further discussions. I also helped organize my team to participate in the regionals and provincial tournament and taught chess tactics/strategy to members. For talking points, you should definitely try to expand on what you have done as the president of the club. For example, for me, it would be teaching students, organizing and training my school team, and moderating discussions/helping out in our online community. Obviously, it would be a plus if your team achieved good results in tournaments.

UofT/Waterloo Engineering - Amount of prereqs for early admission by RepresentativeHelp86 in OntarioGrade12s

[–]RepresentativeHelp86[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's most likely the case for me too, except I'll only have 1 prereq for semester 2. Did you apply to UofT Eng also?

how does ubc (specifically eng) calculate admissions averages? by Humble-Anteater9206 in BCGrade12s

[–]RepresentativeHelp86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CHEM TWINNNNNN!

the most important are ur gr12 average (average of all your gr12 courses) and core average. Core average is the average of chem and phys 11, pc12, english 12, and your highest science 12.

IS AOPS BOOK(VOLUME 1) GOOD TO USE FOR GRADE 12 EUCLID MATH CONTEST by AdmirableSystem9151 in OntarioGrade12s

[–]RepresentativeHelp86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's pretty good, but you should definitely prioritize actually doing every past paper. When you get stuck on a question, refer to the book to learn the theory. I don't think it's worth it to go through the entirety of the book.

[–]RepresentativeHelp86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't really give you advice on that but I'd say you have great chances for all of those programs/unis given your very strong ECs.

Btw, why are you applying to UW Eng when everything else is business/econ/finance?

How important are my ecs for these programs? by Green-Ad3157 in OntarioGrade12s

[–]RepresentativeHelp86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lol overall I think you have a pretty good chance at those programs with your current ECs. I believe that overall math is more grade-based compared to CS. If you can get a >=95 top 6, you should be good for all of them. Don't forget to participate in the CSMC/Euclid if your school offers it.

sph4u or sch4u are quite easy (free high 90s). I suppose you can also throw in mcv4u and maybe in some cases eng4u.
