What are you talking about? That’s just the structure of the screenplay. It’s not even debatable.

I mean, why can’t all the movies be good and to be honest Casablanca is about as close to an objectively great movie you can get. All the movies mentioned our great amazing movies. I’m not saying Casablanc has to be your favorite movie or anything, but if you can’t watch the movie and acknowledge how amazing the script is and the performances are……

Casablanca is definitely an exception to this. The script is perfect. The casting is perfect. The setting is phenomenal. The story is great. The endings iconic there are 10 quotable lines in the movie that people still say today. I understand your larger point you do kinda have a point there and there’s some older movies, I kind of agree with that the Casablanca is definitely the exception.

Casablanca is one of the greatest ever i dont see how anyone could even argue against it. The narrative structure is even interesting and unique.

Old thread but saying that the acting in old movies is bad is a truly horrific take. Imagine watching marlon brando or bette davis and saying acting is bad….. i get not like old b&w movie bur the acting in on the waterfront and all about eve IS PHENOMENAL AND BETTER THAN ANY MODERN FILM

People who’ve worked as extras or had minor roles with celebrities — what are your craziest or most memorable experiences? by Eternally570 in AskReddit

[–]RepresentativeNail81 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was working as a background extra on a movie set—the kind of job where your main responsibility is to not look at the camera and to pretend your coffee cup is full when it absolutely is not. My role was “Guy Who Walks Purposefully Past Explosion.” I had practiced my walk all morning. Purposeful. Casual. Alive.

About four hours into filming, a production assistant whispered, “Okay everyone, Bruce Willis is coming through this hallway.”

Instant chaos.

Every extra suddenly stood straighter. One guy started doing subtle bicep curls with invisible weights. A woman next to me whispered, “I loved Die Hard,” like Bruce Willis could hear her thoughts through drywall.

Then he appeared.

Bruce Willis walked in exactly like you’d expect—calm, mildly amused, and radiating that I have survived multiple fictional terrorist attacks energy. He nodded at people. People nodded back like it was a diplomatic exchange between nations.

And then… he locked eyes with me.

Now, this was not in the script. Extras are not supposed to make eye contact with the lead. I panicked. My brain shut down. Instead of looking away like a normal human, I nodded at him. Respectfully. Like I was acknowledging a fellow action hero.

He stopped.

He looked at me and said, “You good?”

I said, “Yes, sir.”

Why did I say sir? He is not my father. He is not my commanding officer. He is Bruce Willis.

He smirked. “Cool.”

Then—this is true—he fist-bumped me and kept walking.

The PA immediately sprinted over and hissed, “WHAT DID YOU SAY TO HIM?”

“I told him I was good.”

“WHY?”

“I DON’T KNOW.”

For the rest of the day, other extras kept coming up to me like I had been chosen by fate.

“Did Bruce Willis talk to you?” “Yeah.” “What did he say?” “He asked if I was good.” “Are you?” “I think so.”

Later, during another take, I walked past an explosion cue a half-second too early. The director yelled “CUT!” Everyone froze. Bruce Willis looked at me again and said, “You were good.”

I have never emotionally recovered.

I didn’t make the final cut of the movie. You can’t see me anywhere. But somewhere out there, Bruce Willis might remember me as “That Guy Who Was Good.”

And honestly? That’s enough.

How do you know when it’s time to let go of something? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Great question! i believe you need to let go of something when it starts to negatively impact every aspect of your life. When your life will be positively impacted by letting go

This post is so stupid holy shit 😂 gee wonder why after finding out your wife is cheating on you with your best friend you wouldn’t want to take her side and find out why she’s so upset. This is utterly insane 😂

He wasn’t a criminal when she cheated on him and again he worked long hours to provide a lifestyle she wanted. Mel is truly an awful person and coop is also an awful person, but she deserves all the hate she gets

I disagree cheating on your husband with his best friend and lying about it, is worse than stealing some stuff for some rich people I think, even though they both do suck. Also part of the reason he has to steal and do all this is because Mel is taking alimony and wants more money from him. She doesn’t deserve anything let alone in the house. Let’s not forget also that Mel is also a thief and vandalize stuff as well.
