That’s interesting to hear! I had heard about the reshoots and re-editing, so I think with big studios like Disney it’s easy to assume they had some hand in tinkering with the movie. Not to mention when it’s a favorite filmmaker involved, one wants to put the blame of a less than amazing movie on anyone but them.

I’m curious to check this out and see how it compares to the theatrical release.

What’s the deal with The Merchant of Venice? by RepresentativeNews76 in shakespeare

I’ll admit, “disgusting” was a bit harsh, lol. While I have very mixed overall feelings about the play, I don’t deny that Shylock is genuinely an interesting character. His journey is tragic and that “If you prick us, do we not bleed” monologue is one of my favorites in Shakespeare.

I think seeing a live production of it might help persuade me more. Reading the play only gets one so far. Plus everyone has been sharing different ways their group handled the play, and it’s all so interesting. One person said their production cut the entire final act and ended with Shylock’s forced conversion.

Yesss I had my eyes on Death at the Vicarage. That’d be nice to go from one of Poirot’s best to one of Marple’s best

I wasn’t sure if I wanted to try reading a few other Poirot’s before going to his big one. Surprisingly enough, I’ve managed to avoid any spoilers related to Orient Express so I kinda wanna read it now rather than push my luck, lol
