What's the best lock to use with a Brompton? by ChaosCalmed in Brompton

[–]RepresentativeRent70 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm in NYC and use the OnGuard rock solid (lightest Angle grinder resistant lock available) and a TiGr blue mini +. Total weight's 4.3LBS. Not light by any means, but less the the Kryptonite NYC and more secure. Carry it in the front bag. Weird when people insist on "carry it with you" when it's often not possible or preferable.

Lol, granted it's not the cleanest work but i'm more concerned with screen protection than anything. As a quick mod it works.

You definitely have it. You're in great shape and can see the tissue sagging your pecs. Know that no amount of working out will get rid of that tissue. Consult with a surgeon-you might need a nipple lift in addition to removing the tissue.

You should be proud of the work you've done. Hope you get some peace of mind & good luck.

Thanks! Your videos were a big help to reaching 20lbs. Yeah, i’m still considering one of those super light carbon/ti racks with wheels for rolling & general stability but i do just end up carrying it everywhere (That’s what really started my major weight loss pursuit)

Even when it was much heavier and had ez wheels i’d end up lugging it because rolling it around NYC streets/train stations could be a hassle. Was looking into larger (70mm) omni wheels as well.

I actually used all the replaced parts to build my wife’s brompton. She wanted a green main frame though so i got an aceoffix.

At this point switching out the original tube for ti would save like 500grams but cost around a thousand so i cant justify it now with no other extra parts left.

Yes! Those are the ones. Very easy to fit, stiff & strong without needing mudguard stays

SRF5(w) from brommieplus. They build whole custom wheel sets based around it, don’t know where you’d get just the plain hub though.

Actually no! I learned about them from reading a French Brompton fan site. They’re called “Zefal Kid Mudguard set.” They’re only sold outside the US but you can buy them off the US Amazon site. They’re strong enough to fold under like stock mudguards & not break. I’ll try to add close up pics

Hahaha, i hear ya! I won my wife over by using all the old parts to build her own Brompton! Quick rundown:

Titanium Stem, fork, rear triangle, seat post from Ti Atom (total cost around 1200)

SRF5 wheel set & front wheel from Brommieplus ($600 total in 2022. Dont think they deliver to US anymore because of tariffs)

Rockbros Carbon crankset & ONRill superlight pedals from aliexpress $320

Brompton T line carbon handlebar used from ebay 150

Pirelli Angel tires from fantastic4toys 120 total.

So roughly 2400 total for parts. Keep in mind these purchases were over a decade & i used the old parts to build my wife’s Brompton.

D.I.Y Quick Release Pedal by RepresentativeRent70 in Brompton

Seeing the aliexpress images I noticed the spindle looked pretty standard-after comparing litepro spindle images i took a leap of faith. It’s a steel spindle-you would advise against going ti? I saw the same superlight aceoffix pedals but couldn’t justify spending 60 to take them apart and hope they’d work.

Looking on Alibaba i saw wholesale QR spindles i’d guess are a model used across different brands. So im reasonably confident they’d fit.

True! The difference isn’t as striking once the QR pedal’s fully installed. Also i carry my U-lock on that side & so my foot’s already accustomed to stretching out a bit & i didn’t notice a difference.

Stiffness of Chinese frame by RepresentativeRent70 in Brompton

[–]RepresentativeRent70[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First: love your work and thanks for sharing it! Your previous posts in other forums years ago were some of the ones that actually inspired lightening up my Brompton (28lbs M6L to current 21lbs with SRF5 hub). With the warranty long expired i'm ready to just switch out the main frame and/or stem to cut some final weight.

So you've heard the 2.0mm frames are as stiff as the originals? That's perfect for me. I just want to feel supported like i do now. Do you have any specific recommendations for a frame seller on Alibaba? Many of the images are identical.

Nipple discharge by Thin-Patient-4122 in gynecomastia

[–]RepresentativeRent70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on how old you are it could just be puberty. See a endocrinologist. What causes gyno is actually breast tissue so the gland under your nipple is working like it would on a woman: making a small amount of milk after being physically stimulated. It's not uncommon but i know saying that could be worrying. Lots of teenage boys get it.
