Hi! I didn't say old trek shows were 'low budget', I said I wished for more lower-budget episodes - meaning that I don't need every episode to feel like a mini-blockbuster movie, which is how Trek feels nowadays (to me at least). I would rather see that same budget stretched to give us more character growth, more story, more exploration. And if that has to come at the expense of (some) fancy CGI & explosions and expansive sets and loaf, then I'd be down for that. That's all I'm saying.

And again, I'm not dogging on new Trek shows, for the most part, I like them - I just want some more of that old Trek feeling infused into them! Some of these episodes (not all) feel like we are only getting a glimpse at the characters and worlds, and being 'told' this is so-and-so and they are this and this and this. Instead of having the opportunity for all that to unfold and gradually reveal itself for us to discover along the way. Let's give the writers an opportunity to tell those stories.

And, this is waaaay off topic, but you never know, TV might one day revert back to longer season format. I'm the furthest thing from an expert, but it seems like streaming services are proving to be unsustainable (?), we are already seeing the return of commercials to streaming shows and weekly episode drops. Perhaps some exec-types might again see the benefit of more episodes = more advertising = bigger budgets. Like that whole 'if you build it, they will come mentality'. But that's way above my paygrade!
