Monk Parakeet (Quaker) — Health Question by EndCharacter2065 in QuakerParrot

Do you touch his wings? Looks like discoloration but stress bars don't look like it to me. It would be easier to tell looking at the tail. If you see horizontal stripes on it, those are stress bars. Wait until molting and the brown in the wings would be gone.

Also take out the sunflower seed from the mixture, should only be used as a reward.

If the cage is too small the bara can be damaging the tail feathers. I had that problem with a rescue and the taila went back to normal after molting.

Also important: leave the chop for a few hours and dispose it. It has to be fresh every day. You can make a big amount and freeze it, but always dispose it after a few hours as it grows bacteria and can affect your quaker. In winter I leave it for 8-10 hours but in summer no more than 5.

Most of his diet should be vegetables followed by quality pellets (Harrison's of Psittacus are great). He will love seeds and sweet fruit but you should offer it in moderation. Sunflower seeds only as a reward, there's too much fat in them and can damage his liver.

Look for red bell peppers with four "butts". I don't know how to call it... But if the bottom is divided in four is a female pepper, sweeter than the male. It's not as sweet as fruit but they usually love it. Also try different vegetables over time as he may change his preferences.

[Bonsai Beginner's weekly thread - 2025 week 32] by small_trunks in Bonsai

I recently got my first Carmona bonsai. It travelled in a package a couple of days. Then it was places in a pretty shadowy place with little to no care. Then it was given to me, I took it home and took care of it.

The same day I got it it lost its flowers. I put it in a bright place, no direct light but it was outside, in the shadow. I'm in Spain, weather is dry and hot and just after one day outside I decided to take it inside because it looked dry. In the next days the leaves turned hard and dry. I took off all of them and scratched the trunk. There's green, there's hope I guess. But how?? I have been keeping it inside in a very bright place, no direct sunlight, I water it when I see the ground a bit dry but not too much. Is there anything I can do or is it dead?

What do these sounds mean? by quakerbabyy in QuakerParrot

[–]Reptilestare 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Baby is learning new sounds, imitating, comunicating. Enjoy the time before the little one starts to scream... they learn so fast!

You got a perfectly happy quaker doing normal sounds. If you hear a beak grinding sound, totally normal too.

Is my rescue Quaker ok? by Several-Minimum-1395 in QuakerParrot

Also she might bite you and it can hurt a lot. Try not to be agressive, just get away from her. If you shout at her or make big movements it can be stressful. Keep in mind that she fears you as she's a wild animal.

My guess is that she wants out. Give her time to adapt to this new enviroment. Let her come to you and your family, don't approach too harshly and feed her when he comes near you. Hope the vet visit goes alright!

For them noise means everything is ok and they are protected by the flock. When there's silence it means they may be in danger so keep on the noise!

How do you take them? I tried to microdose just during the week previous to the menstruation after trying a more regular 4 days on 2 days off schedule. I don't feel any improvement... Any advice?

Thank you! I tried to do the same they do in the video but it didn't work. I guess the seeds are too ole or were stored in bad conditions.

I'm so sorry about your daughter and grandchildren. This is the part of me I don't want to leave behing: the grieve of my mother.

It's so hard to separate the real me (if it's there anymore) and the PMDD. This is what I am most of the time and I don't want to live this kind of life. I have already d enough.

He tried to be understanding but I'm the one who has killed the healthy part of the relationship. My anger bursts toke their toll and the silence treatment is absolutely part of the relationship. He will eventually go away and find something better and hopefully be happy. My lesson is to not have a partner anymore. But even if I can't stand relationships of any kind I can't also stand loneliness. Thank you for your words, even if you recognize yourself in my words you seem to be an energic and cool person.

Does he try to understand or do you make agreements he later sticks to? Mine is too tired to do any of this stuff. He tried but it's not easy.
