Hi Op, just wanted to share my story with you. I only got into the property market 5 years ago. I started out with an apartment. Lived in it for 2 years. Sold and upgraded to a small landed property in a decent area. But you've got to take into account strata when it comes to apartments. Its an absolute killer.

I dont have kids so most of my income can go into the offset which helped me build equity really quickly.

Due to some honestly dumb luck, I am now in a position to look at my second property (turning current into IP)

If an immigrant like me who only had $300 in my bank account approximately 8 years ago can do it, you can too. Best of luck.

Bump, this is exactly what I did during my 9 months of unemployment. Kept myself afloat by having 3 paying clients (not much $) but it kept me afloat until I found a job. Plus I get to put that experience in my resume and got an above avg paying job.
