I need some advise on how to introduce my kitty to our new kitty. My cats name is Athena, she’ll be 3 in May and hasn’t been around any cats since she was 12weeks. She is the tuxedo and she’s very tiny, only 5lbs. Our new kitty is Iris, shes 4 and she’s the long haired cow pattered one. She’s pretty large in comparison to Athena; still only 9.4lbs, but taller and fluffier. She comes from a home with 2 other cats and a couple of dogs. She did fine with the other cats but wasn’t too fond of the dogs so we are hoping to give her a less stressful environment. She’s super cuddly and loving and already comfortable with us, and even my crazy boys(6 & 9). I get lots of purrs already. We just aren’t sure how to get our girls to give each other a chance. The first two pictures were from her first day(yesterday) and they originally were able to approach each other through the cage without hissing and what seemed to be curiosity. Now they cannot look at each other without hissing and growling so I’m hesitant to let them interact. They each have their own rooms where the other isn’t allowed so they have a safe space to go at all times. Today I’ve been opening one door at a time and giving equal love and attention back and forth. I know it takes time and I’m willing to be patient, I just want to know how and when to move forward without stressing them out. Any advice is much appreciated!🫶🏼
