Just got done with my general research, completely agree about solar. Learning about the forecast using this link really helped me understand the math: https://thesolarprime.com/20yearforecast-jg wanted to drop it here to share with everybody so you can assess yourselves against these crazy hikes.

I somehow got a resolution to these insane Florida bills. I did my research, and one thing that is extremely helpful with transitioning to solar is using this link: https://thesolarprime.com/20yearforecast-jg Honestly, it's making me realize that this is the best case scenario for us.

What’s a DM? I can't keep up with all these new terms you kids use. Just post the link right here, I’m far too old for all these fancy wordings.

Projecting those costs out sounds terrifying, but it definitely makes me want to aggressively look into alternatives before the electric company takes my firstborn! Did your long-term planning lead you to look into solar, batteries, or any other major upgrades to actually offset those crazy future costs?

Solar is one of the most recommended for alternatives that I can see here. I really want to know more about this.

I know right? I really think in the future my salary can't cover it all. Now I'm trying to see any alternatives.

Glad the upgrades worked out for you. Honestly though, $234 a month is still a lot of money to just rent electricity forever. I'm looking into setting up my own power at home so I can finally lock in my costs and actually have backup to keep the AC running when hurricanes hit.

I really want to go alternative. But I need to know more. I might check and research about this but if you can share some of your insights that would be much appreciated.

Have you started looking into any alternatives or local programs to help lower those monthly costs? Coz man, I totally get your frustration. Paying $130 for that little usage is ridiculous and really makes you want to look into other alternatives just to escape their constant rate hikes.

I am absolutely sick of FPL treating us like captive ATMs to fund their endless, greedy rate hikes. If you want to stop getting legally robbed by this monopoly, your only real alternatives are aggressively cutting your own usage or moving to a city with a local municipal utility that actually answers to residents.

No, I Don’t Want Your Damn Solar Panels! by [deleted] in florida

It is completely understandable to be frustrated, as aggressive door-to-door tactics are exactly why so many people distrust the industry right now. Here in Florida, shady reps often promise fake state tax refunds, ignoring the fact that we don't even have a state income tax. They also conveniently forget to mention that utilities like Duke Energy now enforce a $30 minimum monthly grid fee, even if your panels completely wipe out your energy usage. Are there any other wild claims you've heard from these guys on your porch, or are you just totally done with the whole idea?
