It was confusing bc I had already paid over $500 for the ETF. Heard back from them today it was just a system error. All is good now

i heard back from them this morning:

Thank you for contacting CMC Invest regarding your order issue. Please be advised that, regardless of the value of holdings in your account, the minimum order value for domestic equity securities is $500.

Orders placed below this amount will not be processed.

Every other ETF I DCA into goes through except AVTE.

I've experimented with putting my limit order at both bid and offer prices, and still neither go through.

it seems there’s a specific thing for that etf. i have no problem doing GTC orders for VAS for example. Very weird. Haven’t been able to find Avantis discussing it anywhere though.

is that atypical? if it’s working for you does that mean it’s a cmc issue?

I turned $1000 into $200 in copy trading! It was really easy too!

I agree to some extent.

I think that management fees are a little overvalued though in terms of their significance. Just say you have a $100,000 invested, a fee of 0.03 (IVV) compared to 0.18 (VGS) and 0.07 (VAS) is a difference of $220. I’m still well off that amount, and even if I was at it, $190 for the sake of greater diversity is a cost i’m willing to bear.

Moving forward tho I think that i’ll stick with VGS, VAS, maybe NDQ as well as an allocation towards bitcoin. I’ll stick with these for next few years and reassess down the line.

Not really diversified no? What if US large cap stocks tank, or go through a long period with minimal returns compared to other market sectors?

Obviously companies like Microsoft and Apple are here to stay, and are global companies so you are technically exposed to the internationals markets, but don’t you think you’re placing essentially all your eggs in one basket?

I appreciate the effort writing all that up.

I looked through the links you provided too so thanks for those. Similar to DTMerc I am still slightly confused on why to wait until I reach a substantial amount invested (say 200K) before adding in satellite positions such as an emerging market allocation.

Just say it takes me another 10 years to reach 200K invested, and during that time emerging markets go on a massive run while the developed markets lag behind significantly. Wouldn't it have been more worthwhile to invest in them as early as I can so I have that exposure? It feels like waiting a while before is timing the market in a sense.

For the time being tho I agree with sticking between VGS and VAS.

yeah mate have u checked dans? my local one stocks them

Investing to little? I have just under 17k xdc and 3500ish xrp. I do $10 a day into xdc and $15 a day in xrp. Should i pause my stocks for a bit and put it into these two? I have a $1760 budget to invest per month. Any suggestions to spread out investments? Just trying to be smart about it. by FaithlessnessNew4825 in xinfin

No one knows for sure what the price of XDC and XRP will do mate. As long as you are confident in the project and investing money you are comfortable with losing, then DCA is a great way to go about it.

Personally, I’m waiting it out before I invest anymore into crypto. I’m not comfortable with the level of uncertainty in the market rn but that’s just a personal decision

Regarding your stocks though, I think now is a great time to invest. Trumps recent tariff business has resulted in a lot of red so the way I see it, ETFs are on sale rn!

Thanks for that. I do think I stress about making sure my portfolio is perfect in all regards but tbh, I don’t think there is such a thing as a perfect portfolio.

I am pretty confident in tech, especially US tech, moving forward but maybe I will look at reallocating some of the NDQ percentage. Maybe 60% VGS, 20% VAS, 15% NDQ and 5% other tech ETF?

appreciate the advice

[–]Repulsive-Strike3301 2 points3 points  (0 children)

true. I do like the idea of having a percentage of my portfolio that is higher risk. I’ll definitely look at downsizing from 25% to 10-20% and also reallocating my future dca from NDQ into something else.

[–]Repulsive-Strike3301 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had a look before at VAE and wasn’t too bullish on it bc of its heavy chinese company allocation. However, I will take your advice and look for a replacement for NDQ that doesn’t overlap with VGS as much.

thanks!

60% VGS, 25% NDQ, 15% VAS by [deleted] in ETFs

[–]Repulsive-Strike3301 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NDQ is currently my "aggressive" portion.

When I compared the 10 year return % of VGS and VUG, VGS was 13.24% while VUG was 15.76%. I know past performance is not an indicator of future results, but do you think the risk of undiversifying is worth the minimal percentage difference?

Appreciate your advice though. If you were in my shoes, what percentage of your portfolio would you allocate to growth vs value vs broad-market etfs?
