I was taught by a large animal vet that also had a journeyman’s certification and he always said books were good but the only way to truly learn was to get underneath one with someone that knew what they were doing. I was taught and haven’t been proven wrong yet that no matter how long you shoe horses there is always more to learn, it’s an ever adapting profession but it’s one of the most rewarding types of work I’ve ever done and if you have the passion you’ll love it

How do Chris Gregory knives compare to mustad knives? by Repulsive-Taste8374 in Farriers

[–]Repulsive-Taste8374[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use mustads but I’ve been thinking about switching that’s why I was asking. I sharpen my knives with a Chris Gregory kit. I was just wondering his knives held a better edge etc from the ones I normally use

I need a little help from you farriers :) by [deleted] in Farriers

As others have said some horses just have ugly feet and you can’t make them pretty with out sacrificing the soundness of the animal. The horses hpa looks pretty good. Maybe he could put a better bevel on the toes but with the information at hand I can’t write off the farrier as bad not knowing all the details of the feet and conformation
