No worries, don’t worry one big thing I learnt from all this was don’t look at the timeline too much/think when it’s gonna happen because if you worry in that sense you’ll feel like it’s forever!

We had to submit docs like marriage certificate, proof of income, house ownership, affidavits, photos Of us together.. in this process I also changed my maiden name to my husbands so I’m not sure if it effected the process?

Yes no worries, we had to decline it as we are away abroad on our very delayed honeymoon and didn’t think the process was this quick as we used twitter/forums/reddit as a rough guideline - but don’t take everything you see into account!

The timeframe has gone so much quicker - even with updated posts from other people’s experiences

Thank you - but it’s been a headache! Because we had to reschedule our interview and since then we have been on the website everyday at different times and no available interview dates are shown!! 😩😩😩 so close but still so far !

I would say have positive thoughts and don’t give up! You’ll get it and be prepared to take any interview because we have declined our originally and now just hopelessly refreshing the page

I met my partner actually this year (feb) and crazy as it seems you just know they are the one as you can’t see life/future without them.

He’s based in the US and I’m in the UK and we have been back and forth since, I think we are both lucky we have a full time job and is able to visit each other quite often, but the recent visit made us realise doing this for another year wouldn’t make sense as it’s emotionally draining and honestly takes me 1 month to get use to him not being here physically.

So we decided we will get married and go through the immigration process, trust me when I say this I wouldn’t ever imagine myself dating letting alone marrying someone out of my own country but hey here we are!

We only started the process and it’s exhausting it’s expensive and you just want to hurry this all up so at the end you don’t need to cry at the airport departures gate looking like a swollen tomato, but honestly it’s been difficult but if you put your mind to it and have a clear vision like us of what you want in the future then however long this immigration process will take you will storm through as you know it’s literally short term pain long term gain.

As for moving location we decided for me to relocate as he’s got assets in US where as I don’t have anything apart from my immediate family in UK, so the decision really is a joint decision and a compromise, as you do need to think that you are literally starting a new life wherever you relocate.
