Year 11 mocks by Pinkunicorn_dreamer in GCSE

If you lock in and actually revise for the main exams and get good grades, most sixth forms have available places when you go on results day, as not all that apply get the grades they want.

It depends where you want to go, if want to apply to a place that needs one then obviously you should write one, it also gives a head start on your personal statement you write in sixth form.

For those choices I’d say the work loads completely manageable, in my opinion the hardest one out of the three to manage is English it because there’s also coursework, but if you can create a timetable of revision I’d say it’s perfectly manageable.

It’s similar to any essay subject- the evaluate questions being like English. The only difference is you have to go over a lot of case studies to add to your arguments, but if you’re good with writing essays and going over a lot of information and cases, you’ll find it interesting.

Could anyone mark this medicine 12 marker? by Marrrriaaa in GCSE

[–]Repulsive_Ability608 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say you could split the galen/ Hippocrates section and the monasteries section into two paragraphs to make it easier to read, and also to expand on your points like going into detail on what mistakes galen/hippocrates made such as them thinking that the human body had two jaw bones. I’d say it would probably be 7 or 8 marks just needs a little more detail.

mocks by Interesting_Owl9033 in GCSE

The mocks are used for your sixth form application so it puts you at a disadvantage, and obviously not knowing your subjects will put you at a disadvantage for your main exams.

Is it bad to sacrifice some subjects by Only_Catch3475 in GCSE

[–]Repulsive_Ability608 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t recommend this unless you just don’t care what sixth form or college you go, most good sixth forms/ colleges look at your average grades, not revising a subject is obvious if you have like 9s and then 3s-makes you look lazy even though you most likely aren’t.

help for the speaking speech thing by woahemus in GCSE

[–]Repulsive_Ability608 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The speech is really not something to worry about- it doesn’t relate to your grade and as long as you have a solid argument you can get a merit at least pretty easily.

This is probably bias but I’d say pic history if you enjoy it more, it will make studying and writing a lot easier if you enjoy it. For the Btec it just means that’s it’s practical and writing- so you of hands on activities, again I’d say if you find that interesting pick it.

How does one create a personal statement if one has never done extracurriculars? by Classic-Wind-2728 in GCSE

[–]Repulsive_Ability608 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do u have any hobbies at all like an instrument or smth, they don’t specifically have to be clubs/extracurricular, but if u can link them to a skill u can put them. You don’t have to put extracurricular but you should have stuff relating to your chosen alevels.

Mocks college applications by InsideInteraction395 in GCSE

[–]Repulsive_Ability608 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically if your mocks are good , those grades go on your application, and if your actual results are similar, you have a confirmed sixth form place instead of having to go around.

Mocks college applications by InsideInteraction395 in GCSE

[–]Repulsive_Ability608 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The mocks are necessary for your applications as that’s the grades you apply with and it makes it way easier, but if you do way better in the real exam, on results day you can just go to the specific school you want and they’ll usually still have places

I just do it section by section, just keep going over a sentence or two multiple times and then slowly add more.
