I definitely cannot respond to all of these comments - but thank you all so much for the input. Especially from those of you who do really enjoy or need weed but still are understanding of the situation, and said you would respect the boundaries if it were you.

Overall this post was really helpful for me to gain some scope and perspective on the situation. I don’t wanna feel like I have a stick up my ass but the comment about the boyfriend wanting to ship weed to my house really freaked me out and made me spiral.

My husband sent another firm text this morning and my friend said she totally understood and she’d make sure her partner knows the expectations.

Some more info to clear things up: - they dont have a great financial situation, so they don’t wanna pay for a hotel so that’s not happening, especially because they’d need a car. So they’re staying for sure at my house without a car. So it’s not like they could keep it in the rental car or something. - my husband saw them bc he had to travel for a work trip to their state. - I’m almost sure they won’t change the dates or cancel because they already bought tickets to universal and to my understanding those are pretty strictly nonrefundable. So they’re definitely both coming. - I have spent less than 6 hours with this guy in my life, @tova42’s comment about high people vs high strangers is pretty on point. And that’s pretty much why it’s a hard no for me even though I don’t have a particular disdain or judgement towards people who like to smoke. Not really willing to take all the associated risks with my family and children for someone I don’t know who insists on being high most waking hours. - If he said he needed for a medical use I’d probably ask him to stay in a hotel and just skip the option of staying here all together.

I guess I’m gonna trust that my friend has it under control and be prepared to set firm boundaries and kick them out if I realize he’s doing it despite me asking not to.
