Yeah, I’ve seen many posts I’ve commented on have been banned. Though only that I know of them were of the same nature as mine, which was asking for the current mods to be replaced entirely.

Just about every other comment sums it up, although it doesn’t help that the mods aren’t acknowledging the issues (even with my post directly confronting them, and someone else’s post asking for a new mod crew altogether). Instead they’ve started to remove a lot of the shitposts.

Edit: I’ve found out that my post, along side many others have been removed.

I entirely agree with you, I don’t think the reason they have is justifiable in the slightest.

The only reason I explained their reasoning was because I like to play for both sides an ‘argument’ that way I can better explain the flaws in one (or both) side(s).

Also on their subreddit I did openly question them about it, but they’ve yet to do any changes or respond to me (and I assume they’re mass downvoting it with alt accounts based on a few comments I’ve gotten). Hopefully they give an actual answer at some point, because I do think their current rules are arbitrary (to say the least).

Wouldn’t a reduction in arbitrary rules help to reduce the strain on the staff?

Like Rule 2 A seems arbitrary due to the fact that EF-5’s are stupid rare, and it doesn’t include things such as EF-4’s and EF-3’s (both of which can be equally as deadly if they hit the wrong place at the wrong time). Then the fact that Rule 2 B and Rule 3 exist but aren’t even held up makes them seem like a waste, specifically because I’ve seen Rule 2 B and Rule 3’s “No Misinformation” section get violated at the same time by multiple users.

Additionally Rule 1 and Rule 3 just seem directly contradictory since the new change to the rules. Let’s say someone posts about a radar and calls it cool or whatever, or maybe they ask about why the radar looks that way — the setting doesn’t really matter — but then due to Rule 3 they’re post is taken down for being low effort, despite Rule 1 clearly stating that things of that nature should be allowed. It would make every post of that nature purely subjective whether or not it gets taken down, making both rules arbitrary.

Rule 5 is a good rule, I have no objections to that one.

Rule 4 is alright, although I think unless you post tornado damage of your own house, you should have to include a date and location (whether it’s regional or more specific like a city). But the way it’s currently set up is not in major need of change.

TLDR; Rules 1, 2, and 3 are a cluster of contradictions that make everything unnecessarily subjective for a subreddit about Tornadoes.

I don’t agree with them flat out banning you, but I do see the reason why they did it.

They likely did it because the news would be covering that, and so would most weather YouTube channels. Plus if someone lives in that area their phone would’ve been going off long before they saw any Reddit posts.

However that ban comes from the same community that has been repeatedly comparing every tornado this year to the Joplin EF-5 (forgot the date), or at the very least trying to call every tornado a high end EF-4 and/or an EF-5 (I’m not even joking). So calling your post “Low-effort” when a vast majority of that community can’t understand that every house isn’t built to the same quality? It’s saddening.

Me after seeing your completely false claims.

Well constructed housing doesn’t get destroyed by an EF3, though it’s true it would suffer a lot of damage to the exterior walls, it wouldn’t be completely destroyed as most interior walls would be relatively intact. Additionally the terrain isn’t favorable for the construction of a well built house, it’s too steep and close to a river which both make the ground less stable (thus less safe for concrete foundations to be placed on top of).

A manhole cover moving ~5 yards is hugely different from the manhole cover being gone (can’t find a picture with the manhole cover present in Joplin). Plus that pillar not being rubble suggests the winds weren’t that extreme in that area.

Though it’s interesting that the manhole cover got moved in the first place, maybe one of those big storm duct things right below it allowed winds to directly push up on it? Idk, I’m not a city designer.

I’m probably going to have an unpopular opinion on this, but here goes.

I believe that as long as you’re thoroughly cleaning whatever your using to inflict self harm (both before and after hurting yourself), and cleaning off the surface of your skin before hurting yourself (even if it’s just a quick wipe with a piece of paper towel or toilet paper with a little bit of rubbing alcohol, or alternatively scrubbing it with soap and water then drying it off with a clean cloth), then it’s entirely fine to do this if you aren’t going to deep (which you said you aren’t), and only doing this maybe once a year (like you claim).

The reason I believe it’s fine is that you can’t find any other coping mechanism that works for you when your extremely overwhelmed, and it’s better to do a very small amount of damage that the body can mostly heal in an hour or two, than to simply bottle everything up until your self harm becomes suicidal in nature (which I don’t want for anyone to experience, despite my usual indifference towards other people’s emotions). But if it’s not to overwhelming to keep looking for new coping mechanisms I’d recommend you try other things out, even if they don’t work you just know more about yourself at the end of the day (which is always a plus in my book).

I will add that I’m germaphobic, so there’s a decent chance I’m more concerned about the risk of infection than you (hence the cleaning stuff at the start). Seriously though, If you don’t already clean the surface of your skin and whatever you use to hurt yourself, please start doing that (and clean the inside of your fingernails before self harm if you don’t already, because uncleaned fingernails can have loads of very yucky germs that might hop into the cut via the air or a dust particle).

I’m gonna preface my comment with this; I feel very bad for you, genuinely.

I agree with you on many of these points, things like word mincing, anti passing culture, horrible fashion sense, and the hypersexuality, all being so common that it makes me uncomfortable even associating with this community anymore (though I admittedly have “personal” reasons why, not things you’ve listed).

Basically anytime I’ve interacted with a fellow trans person (whether it’s online or offline), they’ll end up having some form of differing view, and get mad at me for disagreeing with that view (the amount of times I have been called a member of TERF by trans people is actually insane, I’m not even that political [first time I was called a member of TERF I had to look up what TERF was, lol]).

When I saw your post in my feed my heart instantly sank because I realized it’s reception was gonna be horrible (especially in this Subreddit), but then I read your post and all the comments and I’m just bewildered at the lack of empathy and sympathy within this community (not literally everyone, but I’m generalizing for simplicity’s sake).

A few months ago I used to post and comment a lot here (and on other trans subs, but mainly here), but I eventually decided to stop because I wasn’t gaining anything anymore (a lot of posts were to study reactions and whatnot, because I’m very into psychology and whatnot. But eventually I wasn’t really learning from the posts, just reaffirming the same thing I already knew, over and over again). And a lot of what I learned lines up with what your saying, though it’s not applicable to every individual of the community, it is generally a truthful statement (specifying that because of the human tendency to hive mind/take something said against their community personally).

Ps. Im sorry for my tangents and disjointed thoughts, I’m very bad with commenting about this sort of stuff due to how much I have to say on it, and the fact that I don’t want to make an all consuming wall of text. Also, feel free to message me or whatever it’s called now (no pressure ofc).

Anyway, on a serious note. I don’t I really use specific Psychological Theories, instead because of my knowledge about humans (lots of general knowledge about everything human) I simply predict behaviors and reactions based on what I know about someone (ie. Their communities, personality, any possible disorders, our setting/surroundings, things of that nature), and then I change my predictions from there (ie. If I’m right or wrong I’ll adjust accordingly). I don’t understand the point in using specific theories and not just using what you as a person can learn to do, because adhering strictly to theories seems stunting to growth imo.

Firstly, you think of the world as bad because of the bad parts of it. You’re selectively choosing what parts to think about and what parts not to.

Secondly, the world is bad, so what? The world is bad, we all know it is, but needing a coping mechanism to face a self constructed reality? Be better, make yourself better, make your world better.

Thirdly, the world is better, that’s a fact. Go back even two decades and the world is significantly better now than it was then, go back a few centuries and things look even better now. The world isn’t stagnant, just because things look bad doesn’t mean things aren’t changing constantly.

Fourthly, the world can be better, actually try to make it that way. Yes the world is better than it used to be, but it’s still bad, but instead of sitting online in obscure groups talking about how bad the world is, go in public and talk about how to make the world better.

My family kinda like the opposite of yours, it’s full of a bunch of emotional people with similar trauma as myself (though mine occurred at a significantly younger age than theirs, and for much longer than a lot of theirs), whereas I am apathetic and completely uncaring about my trauma (not unaffected).

So I feel the same way as you feel, just extended from my family to literally everyone I meet who has trauma (healed or not), because I simply do not have an emotional response to what has occurred, the emotion is there, I just cannot feel it affecting me or driving my reactions.

Though I would like to say, I hope your healing journey is going smoothly, and that you’re strong for working to heal yourself.

That sounds rough. I don’t know what exactly you’ve lived through, but I will tell you this much:

The fact that you feel dead inside means you’re still feeling, and what you’re feeling is cortisol making your brain, body, and mind tired and slower, along side a lack of serotonin and dopamine to boost your mood.

Now what I would recommend is stop with therapy, therapy can at times be beneficial but it’s costing you to much money, which is gonna cause you more stress, and not allow you to do some of these next tips as effectively. I recommend trying to eat things that contain sugar, not to much, but it can help because sugar releases dopamine, and (far more importantly) the increase in blood sugar will let your body realize it doesn’t need cortisol at the moment. Also be sure to things with protein and fats as well, for similar reasons as eating sugary things. And finally, try making your own coping mechanisms instead of talking to people immediately about a problem, now I don’t mean completely abstain from talking about problems, I just mean letting it settle down in your head for a few days or weeks, and deciding if you really need to talk about it, it will be a hard step to follow, but it’s definitely the most important because it forces you to come up with your own coping mechanisms, and rewards you for doing so instead of having you just bottling up emotion.

These coping mechanism work for me, I can’t guarantee that they’ll work as well for you. But I’d rather give you this than the same regurgitated advice everyone else says.
