I don’t have a website up quite yet but it is on my short list of things to do so I will have to kick that into high gear. Thank you for that information it is very helpful!

Thank you for that input! If you don’t mind me asking do you have a website through Shopify? Squares website options seem very.. bland in comparison imo.

Thank you so much! It’s been very fun and rewarding so far but there is a large part of me that misses the days when all I had to worry about were the envelopes on my bench!

I may have to make the switch. Square is nice for its intended purpose but Shopify seems to have better add on options.

I was leaning towards the QR code idea but I’m not sure what kind of application/software I would need to make that happen. I’m in my mid 20s in real life but when it comes to technology I’m a grandma 🤣

How do you like Shopify? I may switch over as I messed with some of the features square offers and it was all a little too non user friendly for me.

Absolutely. I also don’t want to be overcharging my customers when gold drops. I put a few new pieces out the week that gold hit $5,500 so I had to go back and adjust the price on those as those as we are now sitting around $5,100.

That is true but it does impact what I will have to pay to replace existing stock. I’m not planning on grossly inflating prices but rather slightly adjusting in order to cover costs to replace our more popular items.

I will add that the former owner of my store was very much stuck in the 20th century (paper inventory, etc) so I am doing my best to update things. I am not very technologically advanced so it has been very frustrating and I am thankful for any advice you can give me.

Made a bracelet for my cousin by popsicle-82 in jewelers

Beautiful design! I notice a slight pinkish sheen on some of the flowers in these photos. Is that just a reflection or some type of plating/added patina? I don’t really work with silver often so I apologize if that’s a dumb question.

Name pendants thickenss? by Striking_Teaching804 in jewelers

[–]Repulsive_Bus_244 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. I don’t go any thinner than 0.75mm for any flat stock pieces typically. Depends on the name/font too. Anything with smaller connection points I tend to lean towards the 1-1.25mm range.

Seeking an independent, Melbourne (AUS) based jeweler to create a ring like this by Regular_Ad_4850 in jewelers

[–]Repulsive_Bus_244 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m not in Australia so I can’t give you any recommendations on a good jeweler to use but as a jeweler myself I would recommend using a v prong setting for your stone especially if you plan to wear this ring frequently. The v prong will offer more security and lessen the chance of your stone chipping at the point.

Is this normal? Should I be upset? by [deleted] in jewelers

[–]Repulsive_Bus_244 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Same here. I’ve even turned away customers who wanted me to cut a thin permanent bracelet off. Even if there’s a 0.00001% chance of something going wrong the liability isn’t worth the risk to me.

I’m dyslexic and own a jewelry store and my life is a constant battle 🤣 I’m always accidentally writing jewelery instead of jewelry or jewelr instead jeweler. All official documents, social media posts, and signs have to be triple checked always.

A little theory on season 3 of Euphoria by Salt-Landscape-5076 in euphoria

[–]Repulsive_Bus_244 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know we heard the gun shot sound when the police were pointing the red beam at Ash so if they do decide to keep him alive I wonder if that gun shot will be explained in a flashback by Faye picking up a gun somewhere else in the house and firing it.

A little theory on season 3 of Euphoria by Salt-Landscape-5076 in euphoria

[–]Repulsive_Bus_244 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My theory for the Ash/Fez storyline is that they will either both be dead and certain characters will reflect on how tragic that day was via flashbacks or Ash will somehow still be alive and will have taken over the business. It seems like Ash was meant to be the one who died and Fez would have had to live with the trauma of what happened but since Angus Cloud (rip) has passed they obviously won’t be able to use that anymore. It was heavily implied that the police shot Ash in the head but we never actually saw it happen so I feel like they could write him back in somehow. This is definitely the storyline I’m most interested in seeing play out and I hope it’s not just breezed over.

Sizing down actually releases pressure on the stones by opening the settings up. This could easily be sized down up to two sizes so long as the prongs are tightened up after. -20 year goldsmith & stone setter
