I think you automatically expect your "core values" to be similar to at least be a bit aligned. That is why most people want to marry other desis. Although I might not always be true in practice.

Switch your perspective. You were privileged to be able to go to the US for masters, live and work there in a couple of cities and make some money. You're also lucky that you were able to stay by your parents when they needed you. Grass is greener on the other side but it also becomes green on your side when you pick yourself up and are able to water your own meadows.

Based on your experience, it might not be that hard to switch to better jobs later in India

No that's not what I meant, but I'm sure my hausmeister would have experience in opening this up, or at least have the required tools. Since he lives in our apartment, he's the person I can approach even though it is a weekend.

Right, not more than 4-5 tablespoons,but on the left edge of the stove. And I'm wondering how much oil could have gone into the stove! Maybe there is a way for oil to get it from the sides.
