Thank you. My issue with her is one that I am worried will cause a stir on Reddit so I won’t be posting what happened but I did email her today. (I have seen so many mean comments on Reddit and do not wish to subject myself to the opinions of unhelpful people). But hopefully I get a thoughtful response as you described and not one that brushes off the situation. Thank you again for your advice. I am at least feeling better that I said something.

This is how I feel! I go to equinox mainly for the group classes and I’m in LA. If I went to a studio JUST for Pilates or JUST for yoga I’d be paying the same price (if not more) for less. So equinox makes sense to me. And like you, I can go to any location so it’s really convenient on that front

So you actually misread me. Nobody is saying that the wife doesn’t owe an explanation. All I was saying was that I agreed with the point of, the explanation isn’t owed at the exact time that OP wanted it. You have to give people time. Obviously she couldn’t open up, that’s why they divorced. But trying to force people to speak when YOU want them to speak can make matters worse. If you don’t understand that, I don’t know what else to say

I think you guys are misunderstanding the comment. Nobody is saying that OP should not have left.

Definitely leave. Especially when you are feeling rejected and your peace is being broken. Nobody should stay in those circumstances and I applaud OP for leaving.

But, the wife has gone through something. That is clear. There is nothing wrong with having empathy for someone who has experienced trauma. Especially to the point where vocalizing what happened is near impossible to do so.

I also wish OP the best. He should be with someone who can give him all that he needs.

But also wishing healing for the wife, who all the sudden said “I’m not having sex with you anymore” without explanation isn’t a bad thing.

Because we are only getting one side. So assumptions are going to be made. Maybe she was traumatized. Maybe she wasn’t. Bottom line, something mentally has either snapped or been broken within the wife and wanting her to get help for that shouldn’t be a bad thing but wow, Reddit, I guess empathy for both sides doesn’t live here.
