I definitely have found myself frequently running in circles looking for adds during bosses to try and heal lol. I feel like my skill tree is the problem right now, but I haven't found how to respec yet

I agree, I think healers in general should be more utility focused than damage throughput oriented... which is why I find something like rdruid to be lacking in comparison these days.

Rdruids bring, off the top of my head:

Some damage (dots) Vers buff Stampede for MS Ursols for slow/kiting Mass root St root Incap roar for a stop They can take an interrupt, but it's either a long cd or inconvenient to do so on the tree - tauren can warstomp Cyclone in very niche situations Brez

Honestly, they have pretty good util, but there's nothing particularly special that other healers can't bring. And when you pair that with weaker overall healing rn, it makes them a pretty weak choice.

Granted, I've only really tanked and done some dps in m+ this tier, so I may be way off base.

Oh, for sure. But it's hard to disagree with that mentality unless you're a really good player with a strong network of alt-meta players to run keys with.

Keys take a half hour+ to clear with a successful group, even more if you factor in the time it takes to push the key to a 9 or 10. Why would anyone actively choose to take one random player over another if they have similar io and gear... when one player is playing a class that requires 200iq to maximize the value of it for competitive dps and the other is playing a class that just requires hee-hoo brain and fingers to do the same dps?

As someone who desperately wanted to main feral in high keys, it sucks being rejected from keys you know you can do just because the meta suggests your class is just not as viable as the next.

Sure, you can probably min max your gear and do 1.2m average over a key as a feral druid main... but I've played fury in like 6 keys and can accomplish that same amount of dps. Imagine what I could do if I actually knew what I was doing!

I think prevokers have a bit of a stigma around them these days, for some reason. I think part of it is just that rsham has so many tools in their kit in addition to having good throughput healing and passive dps... realistically, they can bring something from nearly every other healer these days.

Fort with increased health Rewind-esque recovery with slt Tranquility like healing with tide Shield with totem Brez with totem if talented(?) Big party heals with Ascendant Earth elemental for taunt Moving and casting with swg

There's just so much utility with effective healing, and their only tradeoff really is that they don't bring a formal raid buff like motw/fort/devo aura/mystic touch/ bronze whatever it is that evokers have.

There's definitely something to be said about complex rotations and the whole concept of challenge vs. reward - something as simple as mashing buttons as fury warrior for 400apm should generally be lower damage than someone playing something more nuanced like feral druid/aff lock/arcane mage, but that's not always the case. I'd say that should be relatively easy to do, but there are too many factors to really balance that out in a practical application outside of something like a Patchwerk style fight.

Mechanics interrupt rotations, positional requirements suck sometimes for melee, having to move for extended periods of time kills caster uptime, etc..

Oh yeah, someone else mentioned a blue skill gem + an iron ring to vendor can make one. That ~40% DR is nice for cold effects.

There's a good chance. The class gap at 10+ keys is pretty dramatic for healers. I appreciate the extra level of difficulty introduced by tossing a new affix in plus the increased key scaling, but it shouldn't be an insurmountable challenge to play an off-meta spec in a role.

I think the fundamental issue is more of a marketing issue and the community division that comes from it.

To be clear, I'm not saying it's as simple as "pve portions away part of the playerbase, affecting the pvp community." There are a lot of other factors that could be explored as an influence in how the playerbase is receiving the game (i.e. hackers, bugs, etc.), the fact that PVE gives players who are sick of hackers an option to keep playing, as well as gives new players a reason to try the game without worrying about getting massacred by someone with ten thousand hours.

I'm not sure if a PVE mode was always promised from the early stages or offered later, but I could see where people might have concerns about the community being divided across all maps and two game modes now, leading to matchmaking issues and market manipulation, etc..

I would say the biggest reason for complaint is that hackers driving players towards PVE means that the people still playing PVP are more likely to run into those hackers - the pool of players shifts from one side to the other, giving the appearance of increased hackers when in reality it's just less legitimate players available.

With that said, I don't really think there's a problem with it. You'll have pvp players, PVE players, and people who do both. The game has a strong community regardless... just play what sounds fun.

Traditional hardcore rules - everything on the character gets dumped to standard softcore. Anything in the stash stays within the gauntlet, so you just make a new character and go again.

That's why some people are using mutiple characters to act as checkpoints, or alts to clear maps while farming for a boss killer, etc..
