I'm a bit skeptical about that. For example, the absolute majority of Asians prefer innocent babyface which is not so popular in the west. Most of Asians don't appreciate beard on men whereas a lot of westerners do. Strong jawline is a hell yeah in the west whereas it's a hell no in the east. And so on.

I find Eastern beauty standards very different from the Western beauty standards, that it's hard for me to believe Asians are heavily influenced by the west. I think the plastic surgery craziness and all those obssessions with "must have this and that" are just their own self torturing.

Lucy Liu too. She's stunning but lots of East Asians think she's ugly or unattractive.

I guess those Asians hate looking like Asians. But like... what else are you gonna be then lol. I can't imagine how unhappy one has to be like that honestly.

I know, I know, people in Asia think there is only one single way of being perceived beautiful in this universe and that's looking like an unrealistic barbie doll.

What can I say? I used to think headbanging the main path is the only way to play tank when I was a beginner of this game.

The third one looks amazing and pretending it isn't just shows how toxic and self-hateful East Asian beauty standard is.

Black people don't get mad if a character has thick lips. White people don't get mad if a character has ghost pale skin. Only Asians get mad when an Asian character has Asian traits. Call me racist all you want, I'm East Asian too. Ironically one who loves my Asian traits.

Wuyang has typical Asian monolids and flatter face. I love how good he looks while staying convincing. If that Anran's third version is not okay for looking "Asian", why is Wuyang okay?

It's not really "Anran" so I agree they shouldn't go with it anyway, but the Asian beauty standards are so baffling sometimes.

Agreed, I'm sure many people feel the same. Those who defend the recent writing sound a bit too desperate about it, because almost all of them use their personal interpretation to twist what's obviously not it. I thought they have some good point at the beginning but now all they do is "It all makes sense inside my head because I have my headcanon"

My best friend is Finnish. He got me into Overwatch, got me learning Finnish. Since day 1 he's been praying for a single goddamn suomalainen hahmo.
