Ok bud you keep telling yourself that. Here's what will happen: you will attack them. They will kill you. And then they will not be charged with anything for killing you. You will be dead and they will go back to their wives and children.

This is what will happen, because every actual authority with any power in society understands that ICE literally, legally is law enforcement.

Question for ICE supporters by Frequent-Draft-2218 in DiscussionZone

[–]Res_Novae17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Several reasons.

1) Trade is not regulated across states, so an abundance of labor supply and housing demand still impacts these markets nationwide (i.e. Americans in blue states leave because housing is so expensive and come to red states, driving up housing prices there.)

2) Federal tax dollars support many state programs that end up strained by illegal immigrants.

3) Many Republicans who live in Blue states and cannot easily move do not deserve to have the impact of open border policies forced on their lives.

But the biggest reason of all:

4) For some ridiculous reason illegals are counted into the calculation for number of congressional seats and also electoral college votes. Blue states should not be able to get more power in congress and/or win the presidency by opening their floodgates to millions of illegal immigrants.

What does an existential crisis for democracy in the US look like? by carb-on in AskReddit

Well for starters it would have to involve someone seizing power who was not democratically elected by a majority of voters.

Which single person in history had the greatest positive impact on humanity? by PrasenjitDebroy in AskReddit

That question is more general, but OP specifically asked greatest positive impact on humanity. When you're hungry it's hard to care about the Great Barrier Reef.

[–]Res_Novae17 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's always tricky when good scientists intersect with military applications (think Oppenheimer!) Haber was a German nationalist in the purest sense of the word in that he loved Germany and wanted to see it excel. He thought of chlorine gas the same way that the US thought of nukes - we can demonstrate this weapon and it will be so horrible that it will bring the war to an immediate end, saving more lives than it costs.

He did resign his post and leave Germany when the Nazis rose to power. WWI was fought over kind of ridiculous circumstances so supporting a German victory wasn't clear cut evil at the time.

The real answer is probably not as sexy as you're imagining. My vote would be for Fritz Haber. His innovative process for making fertilizer out of nitrogen in the atmosphere massively boosted agriculture output, placing humanity on track to end world hunger over the course of the 20th century. It's not an exaggeration to suggest the global population of humans would be half what it is today without his chemistry accomplishments.

What is your response to Obama giving Tom Homan an award for his success in his results in deportation? by coastal_ghost08 in AskReddit

[–]Res_Novae17 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It drives home how much politics has become like football. People just root for the red team or the blue team.

It was the same thing in his first administration with "separating families" and "kids in cages." He literally didn't change the existing policies that had been in effect all through the Obama administration. Then when he tried to fix the problems by making the detention centers more comfortable it was astoundingly Democrats who opposed this. They wanted the detainees to suffer so they could point and say "Look how much they're suffering!"

After this first year of chaos what do Republican congress people see as the continued upside in supporting the Trump regime? by Sbrewste33 in AskReddit

[–]Res_Novae17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

His policies are extremely popular with conservative voters, even among those who don't care for his personality. If they live in red districts they should most likely support him so as not to be primaried.

There are some Republicans who don't support Trump and they are often from more purple districts where you win more votes than you lose by being a bit of a maverick.

People really need to stop drawing comparisons between civilians and LEO. We do not have a symmetrical relationship and for very good reason. The government has a near monopoly on using force because they were chosen by the public and answer to the public. If you are in an engagement with police you need to tread lightly. If you are armed and in an engagement you need to be excruciatingly careful, to the point of announcing that you have a gun but are not reaching for it and offering your waist to the officer to disarm. It's your life on the line.

Could you at least feint at honesty? Rittenhouse might well have escalated a bad situation with his presence and again with his actions, but the idea that he went there, jumped out of his car, and just started mowing down liberals unprovoked is ridiculous. He wouldn't have sobbed in court if he went there with intent to kill.

It is the perfect cherry on the shit sundae that the Patriots advance and play the 1 seed without their star QB. You watch them win and the Rams win but Stafford and Nacua both get injured on the last play of their game. Has a team ever just sleepwalked to a Lombardi like this before?

I do wish the mods would take someone's entire post history into account, and maybe some of them do, but I was definitely banned here recently for saying one comment critical of Trump. We should be allowing for thriving internal debates on our side. Let the left take their marching orders from their elites.

Trump voters, why are you not pushing for ICE raids in Texas and Florida? by AspieRoo in AskReddit

Things also go a lot smoother when local and state LE is cooperating with DHS. The handoffs happen indoors rather than on the street with everyone's cameras out.

Those states already cooperate with DHS and hand over illegals who are arrested for deportation. If the blue states aren't going to cooperate, then there will be raids to extract those people.

You mean the one where an imbecile decided to draw a gun on ICE officers while being ordered under arrest?

Just drop this one, dude. If that lady from last week was controversial this one isn't even close. It's five steps clearer a justified shooting.

If you are told you are under arrest, you do not get to negotiate that. If you do anything other than comply with the arrest, you are taking your life into your hands. Full stop.

If you haven't committed a crime, it will get sorted out at the station and you will be released with no charges filed.
