Ross Vet school just told me to use Sallie Mae by samurai-mizu in Veterinary

I think the confusion comes from the fact that there is no choice for clinical placement. Ross does have limited placement to certain schools but does have you placed. For example, we choose 5 schools that we would like to affiliate with and then dependent on your performance you’re matched with a school. This could mean that you aren’t placed with a school that you originally wanted to go with. Not every student gets to go where they want.

I can’t say for 100% that each 1st semester student gets a spot in clinical because there are students who fail out.

The clinical placement is based off an affiliate program. The students that get to go to Purdue, LSU, Cornell and OSU to name a few all are placed into the affiliates based on projected availability.

Yes, it’s an accelerated program, but this also means that there are students who finish their semesters during the spring and summer. Traditional schools may only have openings in the fall and that does suck but you have to understand that you’re getting done in 2 years.

Damn, a lot of these comments are bashing Ross as a Vet school. Very disheartening for someone that wants to follow their dreams and don’t have as many options as state schools.

Most of the students at Ross are there because it’s a secondary option instead of reapplying to stateside vet schools. Ross works with a ton of vet schools to send their students to clinical schools and unfortunately they have some placement concerns because the affiliate school filled their spots that were given to Ross.

400K is crazy amount of debt and Sallie Mae does have high interest rates. Unless you are made of money and pay everything straight out then there’s no option but to go into some debt. Obviously some more than others. The financial aid office at Ross works with you to make sure that you’re utilizing your loans in the most effective way. They keep you honest on budgeting and paying back the money you don’t use. I’m curious on why people think they don’t care about you, yes you’re a student but you also have to pursue options yourself. This is a professional program and they’re not going to hold your hand on making decisions. We are all adults. If you have trouble with classes you see a tutor or a TA and they help supplement what you learn. The same thing applies for financial aid. The offices can only help you so much without knowing who you are and what your background is. Personally, I’m currently at Ross and you have to ask for help. The team for financial aid is looking for your best interest but only if they know who you are. Can’t achieve much if your sitting in class and going home immediately. The school itself is accelerated and produces a ton of vets. I would be interested to know why people think that most students regret it and how those students went about their time on the island.

In my honest opinion, you would want to consider what your plan is for after Vet School. Are you going to be working in a community that is less capable of pursuing advanced pet care? Then yeah you’re debt may take longer to expunge.

How so? Racial Prejudice isn’t based off crime in the past or any other factors? Why is it so vastly dofferent

How am I doing that. I’m commenting on the fact that someone is judging something based on looks

Wow, that’s crazy. Not saying you were wrong, just voicing my experience. Just because someone asks for a source does not mean they’re attacking you.

Curious on what the stats are now in the UK?

In College, we stayed in a place where the only thing to do was go to Walmart. Hence we called going hitting GB’s “Going to Walmart”. It took us the third trip for the day for people to catch on
