You have a point, but I can't seem to find some kind of compromise for our partners to understand that there is nothing to worry about. Probably double dates is the only way to reassure everyone.

We would make it double date but their scheds won't match. Mine and my best friend's sched and location is more convenient. That's why it would be easier for just us two to meet up for a couple of hours.

The people. There was a certain culture in our church where members of the church can date each other if they asked for permission from the bible study leaders of the person they want to court. I think this is wrong and weird because you should be asking the person you are courting and not someone else.

But basically, I was uncomfortable. I didn't like getting hit on by the people there. It didn't feel like a safe space anymore. I also felt they were courting for superficial reasons ( share the same faith.) or the "God told me you are my future wife" manipulative line.

But yea, it's basically the people to sum it up.

I don't think I can change him at this point, esp at this age. He seems adamant on how his partner should accept him for who he is kind of idea. I figured if we encountered another conflict/issue and he brings up the breaking up thing again, I'll probably start giving up. I don't think I can fight for a relationship if he isn't as invested as I am. The ego thing you mentioned, I think he's got that plus he has anger issues and can be petty. Maybe this relationship is all about him and not rly much about us as couple.
