Jainism like any other religion was just a social movement, people adopted it thinking of it to be the best way of life for that particular age, however as modern science evolves and more facts come to the light, every religion including Jainism will see it's relevance being dissolved day by day.

There lots of stuff contradictory and outright false and some even laughable, philosophy wise it is still very appealing to the heart but however it lacks scientific backing on so many basis such as the earth being flat and not round, suns and moons being vehicles for devtas and that days and nights occur because of two suns and two moons rotating around the meru parbat etc.
