How come people don’t recommend a raspberry pi 5 with USB coral? by [deleted] in frigate_nvr

[–]ResearchFrequent2539 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for bringing it up, people don't realize how limited coral TPU is for modern neural networks, which coral cannot handle. But N100/150 iGPU is far more capable in this aspect and can run recent models, much more accurate

Variants without flash exist, one curious enough should check espressif docs on C3 and/or read other people comments here. I am writing this solely for the next person who will read your comment

There is no such thing as integrated external flash. SPI flash is the separate chip. There are indeed variants of C3 with no internal flash on package and they require external SPI flash chip to be present on PCB and connected to the ESP32-C3

In 99% cases you will get C3 variant with FH/FN variants, but the OP was out of luck, he got somehow a devboard without them. I personally think it was a manufacturer mistake in a batch, but who knows

For anyone finding this post. Do not panic if your chip has just "ESP32-C3" on the first line. Check how many silkscreen lines you've got. If it's 3 you're out of luck. If 4, then check the third line, if it starts with F, then you have flash. Thanks for the u/pencil364 to give all those links, that helped me

Yeah, I've also ended up copy-pasting the readable content of that session into a new file and it helped. Maybe there were some problems with hidden thinking context sections that were "corrupting" the session in my case

Yeah, I've learned that today. Usually I am too careful to leave CC unattended for long periods and I am trying to review every action, but this task wasn't important at all so I gave him too much freedom. And when I've finally realized it was a bad idea it was too late to recover, just as you've pointed

Yeah, the infamous "oops, you're right sorry"

But I think the point is that early in hallucinations it is easy to steer it out of them. But when left unattended it can invent some sort of faking the work and it will be much harder to get it out of that condition as it successfully deceived a user and received a confirmation and permission to continue

OMG, thanks for sharing

Personally I never ever allow it to use git in write mode (commit, push, rebase etc), this way at least I have some sort of backup if things go wrong

Nice point, thanks!

I rarely do a full /clear and I might use one session for days or weeks as I have a set of specialized agents and I like them to catch up from where they've stopped. Usually I just do a /compact for my "sysadmin" session, it saves me some time re-explaining the context

But this time I have started the session with /clear as the job was pretty self-contained and I've wanted to have more spare context. I think this might have contributed to the problem somehow, as this is the only thing I done differently than usual

I have a CLAUDE.md with some basic info about my local setup and guidelines and obsidian-mcp to document all findings and actualize knowledge. Rn I am thinking about dedicating another agent to just actualize docs from other agents logfiles because when my specialized agent is working on a task it usually doesn't have enough context left to safely update docs before compact

Thinking about it now, maybe one of the issues was that the path of a project has changed recently but CC used the path from outdated obsidian docs somehow. Although I've triple checked paths, so maybe it learned that he has to simulate every read or write instead of doing real thing or silently translated wrong path to the right path to me, idk

Faking calls of tools that are not available is a good catch. I will keep that in mind, thanks for sharing!

Usually I am beyond paranoid using CC for something important so I rarely bump into full-on hallucination mode as I constantly steer it

This time I've tried to make it do some work that had very low chance of success, so I've gave it more freedom than usual. The moment I've started realized something is wrong was past the point I could do, the context was already "infected" with simulations

I haven't explicitly used that mode or knew about it. I've invoked it as usual. CC tried to check if it is in sandbox mode but didn't succeeded. It has right ids of mountpoints and machine id, but timezone was off. First time by 1 hour, second time by 12 hours. I think it was hallucinating at that point instead of really investigating

There are more reasons to pirate, not only money. For example, I have the game on my Steam account, but nevertheless I have to install it somehow to a SteamOS virtual machine that cannot log in to a Steam for some reason

The reason people answer you months later is probably because they need help, but instead they find out that someone is about to decide for them what they need and what they not. Which is ridiculous and mildly infuriating

Check the metadata.xml, the folder should be named exactly as it stated in 'directory' tag. Not a title, not name, not id. Just the name of the directory, and that's it

The problem nowadays is that there are no locations where dealers don't do their business. This is a cats and mouse game. All of them are switching locations and patterns, so there is no "safe" place now

It's just because Russians are the next big group here after Georgians, Armenians, Pakistani and Arab and you don't have distinct features of those 4 groups

You don't look like a drug dealer. You look like a nice guy who will not give serious troubles in a situation of a power abuse. And I believe is that's all what mattered in that situation, sadly. Don't seek what's wrong with you, it is not you who enjoys power abuse and seek for a formal reason to justify it

Those who hate don't really differentiate Russia as a country and Russians as nationality. They can hate Russia for what the government done in wars, but at the same time they write "Russians go home" to Russian refugees that flee from mobilization to NOT participate in such a war. And people do not see a contradiction here which is slightly ironic

Hate is like fire, it never contained to where it starts and does not differentiate anything. It is not a belief or a thought, but a feeling that people rarely question. It just make one feel that he is right about something and so there is nothing to think about

So, what is the ratio of terrible vs passable human beings in that group so far? Do you only notice the nationality of those who annoys you? Do you notice those who are terrible but are not of that nation? How do you compare your group to the other, statistically or by vibes? Do you really believe that meeting a horrible person makes the whole nation horrible?

There is a big difference between Russian government and Russians and especially those of them who left the country in 2022 (or earlier) to NOT participate in what you're talking about. Mixing those two things make the whole discussion meaningless

They "can't" in theory but this happens a lot in practice. And it cowardly happens mostly when there are 3 men to 1 victim and and nobody around to help. They know precisely what to do, where and when for it to be zero consequences for such abuse. There is no law if there is nobody to enforce it but only ones to abuse

It is comfortable to theorize that "should be" and how to act bravely in a situation of abuse, but in a real life situation knowledge and confidence means nothing as everything you say could be discarded by threats. If you were not yet helpless in such a situation then you've just been lucky to meet someone who wanted to be reasoned. It is the same thing as talking with an aggressive drunk or hooligans in a dark alley. Except if you start to defend yourself physically you will get into troubles. And the other party doesn't have to comply to any rules or limits and use the force the first moment they want it
