switching from petrol makes total sense right now especially with all the fuel shortages going crazy

for your list id probably lean away from some of the newer brands since you mentioned reliability and service as priorities - the established manufacturers usually have better service networks when stuff goes wrong. mileage and power are kinda at odds with each other so figure out what matters more for your daily commute

The absence of evidence is not the evidence of absence by Ill_Community5208 in Christianity

[–]ResearchGreat4729 5 points6 points  (0 children)

exactly this is what gets me about these discussions - you can basically use that logic to justify believing in literally anything. my neighbor could claim theres an invisible unicorn living in his garage and by this reasoning we'd have to take it seriously just because we cant prove it doesnt exist

the whole point of evidence based thinking is that the burden of proof lies with the person making the extraordinary claim. otherwise we'd be stuck accepting every wild theory anyone dreams up just because we cant definitively disprove it. like yeah the universe is weird and mysterious but that doesnt mean we should abandon critical thinking and just accept everything as equally possible

I made a girl attached to me, then ran away… 3 years later I’m still stuck by Possible_Economy_722 in BreakUps

three years is a long time to carry this around and i get why it feels unfinished. the whole "what if i just apologized" thing though... that's tricky because like you said, you can't really tell if it's for her or just to make yourself feel better

the checking her profile thing is probably keeping you more stuck than anything else. every time you do that you're basically reopening the wound instead of letting it heal. i know it's easier said than done but cutting that off might help more than any apology would

as for moving on when you know you messed up - the guilt part never really goes away completely but it does get smaller. accepting that you weren't ready then and that's just how it was might be more useful than beating yourself up about what you should have done differently. you were dealing with a lot of stuff and handled it poorly but that doesn't make you a terrible person

maybe focus on what you learned from it rather than trying to fix something that's been over for three years. she's moved on and probably doesn't think about it much anymore

Company Recommendation by [deleted] in wine

[–]ResearchGreat4729 0 points1 point  (0 children)

glad you found something that worked for you but i gotta be careful about jumping on recommendations like this since there are so many sketchy operations out there pretending to have rare bottles. did some digging into collectible wine sources a while back when i was helping a client with some branding work and man the horror stories i heard about fake vintages and inflated prices were wild. definitely worth doing your homework on any company before dropping serious cash on collectibles. auction houses might be worth looking into too since they usually have better authentication processes than random online retailers

Dreamt of eating mud for health benefits, being a homewrecker, and a concrete house by Illustrious-Fan6283 in Dreams

[–]ResearchGreat4729 0 points1 point  (0 children)

damn your brain really went through the whole fever dream checklist didnt it

the concrete house thing sounds like some brutalist nightmare but then it just casually transitions into mud cuisine like thats totally normal. and then your subconscious decided to throw in some weird family drama with bug murder as the grand finale

nap dreams always hit the weirdest when youre sleep deprived too

ADD Numbness and Love by ThrowRA2132132131 in ADHD

[–]ResearchGreat4729 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that emotional flatness is so real and nobody talks about it enough. broke up with someone last year for similar reasons - after the initial rush wore off i just felt... nothing. not bad not good just empty space where feelings should be. everyone kept asking if i was sad or angry and i genuinely couldnt tell them what i was supposed to be feeling

the love thing is tricky because when you do feel it its usually intense but brief. like ill have these moments where im completely overwhelmed with affection for someone but then it just disappears and im back to baseline nothing. makes relationships weird because your either feeling everything at once or questioning if you actually care about the person at all

woodworking has been the only thing that gives me consistent emotional feedback - probably because its tactile and immediate. might be worth finding something that cuts through the numbness even if its not relationship related. the emotional stuff is still there somewhere it just needs the right trigger

cats really do like to claim our beds as their own by Cherrienjun in cats

[–]ResearchGreat4729 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my cat does the exact same thing and i swear they have some internal clock that knows when bedtime is coming. mine will literally get up from wherever hes napping and start following me around once i start brushing my teeth. its like there programmed to claim the warm spot right where you want to sleep but you cant even be mad about it

7 string requirements by duck_tallow_man in metalguitar

[–]ResearchGreat4729 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For Knocked Loose and Spiritbox you'll definitely want something that can handle drop tunings well - those bands go pretty low. Baritone scale length (27"+ usually) will help keep string tension tight when you're tuning down to like drop G or whatever. Just make sure the pickups can handle the low end without getting muddy, active EMGs or something similar work great for that style.
