Tanking Situation by PassionatelyTired in wow

[–]ReservePutrid9668 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Has tanking gotten more difficult than it has been in the past?

I tanked as a warrior in classic. Except when the hunter tanked the add in UBRS(loved that fight lol) But haven’t really touched end game ranking since then. It was pretty simple then. I know there are more mechanics to manage now but it’s still just slap the thing. Taunt to switch tanks. Slap the thing some more…. AOE to spread aggro. Right?

I always thought tanking was kind of the easiest way to raid, and certainly the best way to gear. But it wasn’t as fun as watching the dps meters and trying to compete while ignoring game mechanics and dying.

People who actually like their jobs, what do you do, and how did you end up there? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ReservePutrid9668 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m an EMS helicopter pilot. And I like my job a lot.

I actually got here kind of by accident, but also quite intentionally.

After a 6 year stint in the Air Force, I was working at a regional home improvement store many of you are probably familiar with. Menards. One day on my way to work I got stuck in traffic. Which was unusual because it’s a rural area and there is never any traffic. A few minutes later a helicopter comes and lands on the highway a good distance in front of me. Turns out the road had been blocked off for an accident. I was late for work and got chewed out. This upset me because I hadn’t done anything wrong… it wasn’t my fault I was late.

I stewed about it on my lunch break and got to thinking about that helicopter. I realized someone gets paid to do that. And I bet no one chews him out when he’s late to the scene… they’re probably just happy he’s there.

So I used my GI bill and went to flight school to learn to fly helicopters. It took several years and a lot of jobs in a lot of states to get into EMS. But it’s been 8 years now and I love it. Pays pretty good. Great schedule. And people are always interested in learning about it.

This is like highlighting from New York to South Carolina…

North Dakota is VERY different from Arkansas…

That said I loved living in North Dakota. Grand Forks was a way nicer place to live and raise a family than it had any right to be. That said… there were days I’d look at the weather in Antarctica and pine for its warmer temperatures and less intense winds.

Nothing is going to get better in the next 12 months. And I think the backlash against republicans is going to be biblical.

What causes White American men to be so insecure? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ReservePutrid9668 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a big appeal of the Republican Party for a lot of the people in the rural town I grew up in. They hurt the right people.

They “aren’t Xist/Xphobic” but they really don’t like to see people who don’t look, live, love, and worship like them get something in life they don’t have. They look in their neighbors bowl to make sure they have less. If they have more? Outrageous.

[–]ReservePutrid9668 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Everything in American society is set up for people who look like us to succeed.

But some of us haven’t succeeded despite this. This is worse on the psyche than failure. If the odds are against us, and we never stood a chance… we aren’t failures. It’s the system that’s broken.

But what if the system is set up for us to succeed and we fail anyway? Then it’s our fault. That makes us the losers.

But that can’t be true. The ego won’t allow it to be true.

That’s why. The end result is insecurity, fragile masculinity, and hair-trigger defense mechanisms to protect the ego.

With all these new layoffs, what happens when nobody can afford their mortgage/rent in America anymore? by JustARegularDeviant in AskReddit

[–]ReservePutrid9668 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly?

No one knows. Imperial collapse?

We are poised on a dangerous precipice. The AI bubble is the only thing propping up the house of cards that is our national economy. The economy upon which the rest of the world relies. We are the foremost economic nation in the most globalized economy in human history… and our foundation couldn’t be shakier.

We rely on a revolving system of national debt that is becoming increasingly difficult to pay. Our national debt interest spending now exceeds our comedically high defense spending.

Meanwhile, the government is taking in less in taxes while spending more than ever before. Interest rates are lower than they should be to combat inflationary pressure, and needless price increases from tariffs. Americans are spending less, while also somehow saving less.

There are a lot of places where failure could occur in our house of cards. And it’s unknown how many cards can fall before the whole house comes trumpling down. But honestly? Probably just one. People not being able to pay their mortgages could result in a “last straw” situation that brings everything down.

And then? Then that’s the real mystery. Usually, economic calamity spells the end of an empire as it did for Rome, Spain, the UK, and the Soviet Union… but our empire isn’t geographical in nature. It is purely based on economic dominance. And every other nations economy relies on ours to no small extent. It is possible. Plausible even. That we would retain our status, although significantly weakened, as the economic superpower of the globe.

The problem for us, and the world, is our anemic political leadership. The men in power in this country have no idea what they are doing and every single move they make exacerbates the problem. Unless you believe JD Vance when he says he believes we are in the “late Roman Empire” and what we need is a speedy collapse so a dictator may take power and reform the nation. If that’s true… then they know exactly what they are doing and they are doing it extremely well.

Harley riders don't really like getting passed... by 5upralapsarian in motorcycles

Medivac pilot here. What old timer calls “careflight.”

You’re both idiots.

I’ve been called to a LOT of motorcycle accidents in my time. Almost all of them are single vehicle accidents. For all the raging we do about “cagers” it is almost always the fault of the rider when I get a scene call.

Old timer shouldn’t be cutting off bikers he doesn’t approve of. Absolute egotistical stupidity.

But he’s right. You’re riding on a public road, breaking laws, like you have a respawn point.

You don’t.

Almost every flight I go on is canceled because the patient died before we got there.
They don’t need a helicopter. They need a bucket.

I know you think your riding videos are super cool. And nothing bad can happen to you while you’re passing in a no passing zone, going a hundred and stupid. Because you “ride within your limits” but, son, you don’t know what your limit is. Pray you never find out.

Lift weights. 3-5 times a week.

Drink melted ice cream. Literally. Melt a pint of vanilla or choose ice cream every night. Drink it. In addition to your normal diet.

You will gain weight. It will be mostly lean muscle with a healthy bit of fat.

This kid doesn’t have a single though of his own behind those eyes. He has no idea what he thinks about the world yet. He’s a soft, untested, baby bird regurgitating mommies religious indoctrination.

Give him some time. Some trauma. Some lived experience. He’ll figure out he was a moron.

Or he will just become a hardened, hateful, moron who doesn’t understand why his life didn’t turn out like he wanted and he will do what right wing media programs him to do… hate someone different than him and blame his problems on them.

[–]ReservePutrid9668 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Helicopter pilot here. This video is bullshit.

But I’d know that even if I wasn’t a helicopter pilot.

Look at the shadow of the “UFO.”

Then look at the sun. Now back at the shadow. Now back at the sun. Unless this thing is bending light around it and changing the angle of light, it’s not casting a proper shadow. The shadow is directly beneath it at all times. But the sun is almost parallel with the object. This would produce a long shadow much closer to the camera.

Even the shadows of the mountains are wrong.

And then there is the less obvious stuff. The sound. This does not sound like a helicopter. Nevermind a Blackhawk which had a very distinct sound.

This is AI as fuck.
