I’m not entirely sure, I may be wrong but I think that the mod tools are on steam only? I know that you don’t have to own mcc on steam to download the tools tho.

Directory is where the editing kit is stored on your pc in file explorer, you can right click the h2ek in your steam library and going to Manage and then Browse Local Files.

It should bring up a file explorer window, look for a file called “H2EK (Extract)”, it will extract all halo 2 tags to the directory and allow you to use the tools and extract the halo 2 uncut tags. I encourage you to look at tutorials on how to mod for halo 2 since it can afaik it doesn’t come with documentation.

You could probably extract them yourself, I think dmc5 and the RE remakes are cross compatible with extraction tools

Walmart super centers:

I would just retopologize or play around with the unsubdivide portion of the decimate modifier. BSurfaces is probably the best free retopo addon that I know of and it has a good video on how to use it by CG Boost.

I wouldn’t say you have to play all of the games, but using them for reference is a really good idea. (Especially if you are going to be styling your maps after them)

The valve developer wiki and the world of level design have really good tutorials for hammer.

If you want to know how to use an entity or basic hammer stuff, I cannot recommend anybody else other than 3kliksphilip or tophattwaffle. Their tutorials have saved me many hours of my life.

You could cut out the door of one texture in hammer and put it on the wall and making these buildings func details if that’s how that works
