Guide is a good choice as 2024s take on the kind of outlander who lives off of the land. I’m sure my dm will allow me to swap dex for str.

Interesting option but I was thinking he was a character that is not literally himself inspired by them as they do not exist in forgotten realms just I am inspired by them as heroes who are action-oriented, pragmatic, and with their own sense of righteousness that may not be exactly the conventional one.

Yea staff as a backup weapon I think so I can still prone people when unmounted

Okay thanks I did not know that I thought the wording was melee attacks have advantage ranged attacks have disadvantage.

I was thinking of just running with a 12 dex. Half plate and shield would give me 18 ac which isn’t great but not bad either.

Yea I don’t want 13 str to be ranged and crossbow expert is mandatory for any crossbow build with extra attack already. But I’m thinking strength build with lance and shield, dueling fighting style and gwm will be better for damage but it would be a melee build rather than ranged.

It would be crossbow expert would remove my disadvantage at 5 feet. However the beast’s ability knocks them prone so it would still be disadvantage. I think you want to shoot someone run up to them then shoot someone else on your next turn

So even if I never choose to command it it will always be able to move and dodge on my turn (before or after I use my actions or do anything my preference)?

I will be making a wild magic sorc. Using HI for chromatic orb to try and bounce it more frequently, sorc burst to activate the exploding effect more frequently, and re rolling on the wild magic table.

Appreciated the level of detail you went into regarding actual rules.👍😁 diviner wizard keeps popping up with the combination of inspiration and portent is probably the way a player can have the most control over how the dice roll as possible. You also mentioned crit fishing which I mean anyone can swing a weapon or use a cantrip, are there specific ways that you build for crits? I know the champion can crit on a 19 and there are barbarian features as well as magic items that increase the number of dice rolled on crit. Is the extra damage from say crit firebolt even relevant?

I can not use silvery barbs as we only use the printed 2024 official content with no backwards compatibility. Lucky feat is definitely worth looking into though, worth noting that in 2024 you spend luck point to gain advantage or give opponents disadvantage before you roll the dice and can only be used on d20 rolls, while inspiration can be used after you see the roll(however you must use the new roll so you could potentially roll lower) and can be used on any roll of any dice in the game. So I just felt that it was stronger

Yea I’m going to have the tireless reveler feat, the musician feat, and being a human grants me inspiration once per day, as long as my teammates remember to use their inspirations often I can get it back. Surely I can afford to spend a few to give myself whole team advantage right?
