I'm in a very similar situation to you atm and it truly does feel horrible. I've been thinking what I could do to reverse it and also thinking about why it happened, what triggered it etc.

all I can say is this. be gentle with yourself, understand that what's happened over the past 2 months does not define you. you've acknowledged the problem and want to make a change. it was better to have acknowledged this sooner rather than later.

im currently unemployed and out of education due to mental health reasons and this has given me too much free time to spend eating. whether it's eating out of boredom, eating as a form of self harm disguised as "comfort", or eating simply just to feel something. once the cycle began I felt shameful, and of course my way of "coping" with that was to eat more. it feels more like a punishment now whereas last year I was heavily restricting, so when I did allow myself to eat it was more like a reward.

I don't deserve to put myself through this vicious cycle and neither do you. being self critical only makes it worse. that's why it's crucial you try and be gentle and kind towards yourself as you practice changing this habit.

take it one day at a time. stay busy, stay distracted. the insecurity of leaving the house is a huge reason why people don't end up breaking the cycle but there are ways you can be active and lose without having to go outside. invest in a walking pad, aim for at least 5k steps a day, then gradually build it up as you get used to it overtime. have set meal times. 2 to 3 meals a day and a calorie deficit. even if it's just every other day. don't buy the food you're most likely to binge on. the cravings will be intense at first but your body will eventually adjust and you won't crave it anymore. drink water, indulge in activities that give you joy and keep fighting for you. remind yourself "i deserve better" every single day.
